Tried HiTea last weekend in Chesterfield while in town for a competition. Was very disappointed. Ordered the ramen since so many said it was good. Ordered veggie egg rolls and chicken yakitori. It was the tiniest chicken yakitori I ever saw. Looked like fried mini chicken nuggets on a toothpick with tiny miniscule sized pieces of what I think was bell pepper. The veggie egg rolls were good, though. The ramen was very disappointing. Food presentation was sad. No one seated me or took my order. I had to order after scanning a QR code from the table. While convenient there was no one to ask questions to. My only contact with anyone was the waiter that brought my food to me. When I finished I waited for someone to come ask if I wanted anything else but no one ever came. I didn't know how to get my bill so I just went to the front where I saw a cash register. The place was empty except for me and things looked dated and sad in decor. There was a little Christmas tree still setting out on a table from what I presume was last year? It was a strange and disappointing experience. I gave 2 stars instead of 1 because the egg rolls, though small, were very tasty. It was $16 before the tip and I didn't feel like I had $16 worth of food.

Walked in at 9 and they don’t close until 9:30. First stated their kitchen was closed and they didn’t have boba (clearly did not want us there). We only came for drinks so no big deal. After proceeding to tell us that, they didn’t take our order for another 5 minutes. Just walking back and forth like they had something to do. We came in a group of 5 and only paid in 2 separate transactions. After the first transaction (one boba drink w/ crystal boba instead), the young lady that took the order told the other young lady that was making the drinks, ā€œDon’t worry, there’s more.ā€ A sign that they don’t enjoy their job (the inside atmosphere is beautifully decorated which is the total opposite of their attitudes from the moment we walked in). We got 1 honeydew milk tea and 1 roasted oolong milk tea and BOTH had chunks of powders not thoroughly mixed. Definitely something you don’t want to drink. POWDER! The drink wasn’t cold at all either. So the tea probably was at room temperature that couldn’t dissolve the powder and not enough ice was added (you could tell it was warm tea). You can find better boba places than this one, wouldn’t recommend.

I hate this… this place was TERRIBLE. Ordering was easy. There’s the kiosk or the girl behind the counter. Prices are eh. $15 for a chicken katsu ramen, expect about $6 for a boba tea Food took a very long time to come out. Sunday around dinner time, looked like lots of take away orders. Appetizers came out in a decent amount of time. The shumai was ok. Now the ramen. When it finally did come out. For starters, like warm at best. Broth had zero flavour. I mean. None. The chicken was bland. So bland!! The noodles were al dente. Al dente ramen noodles?! Never heard of her! The egg had some flavour I ate that. For me to leave food behind. It was THAT bad. I’m still disappointed in how much I spent to have flavorless food

Ordered Beef Gyudon, normally I know better and tell them no egg. This was the worst possible outcome from not saying that. The dish has a fried egg traditionally. I normally am easily able to remove it without issue.

These guys gave scrambled eggs gyudon. WHAT IS THIS!?!?!?!? I started to pick out the eggs as I realized it was scrambled.

I can't pick it out, the beef is cooked into the scrambled eggs. I CANNOT OVERSTATE HOW INCORRECT THIS IS.

I'll be bringing the dish back to the resturant and demanding it be remade correctly or refund me, I have closed the lunch box and here at 1:43pm have no lunch still.

I have never returned food to a resturant before.

Changed From 1 star to 5 stars Edit: They have other website photos that shows they scramble it, they thought this was the norm. I explained the poached egg is the traditional japanese side/addon.

They replaced it with Gyudon (No egg) and I am glad I stuck through the fight. Normally I'd just throw it away and accept a loss. But now that its made correctly it is very good. The beef is very savory a tiny bit thicker than the norm for gyudon which is good for me. The onions are small and sautee'd well the tiny bit of marinade that comes off of the beef should flavor the rice, which it does.

5/5 for the price

They were happy to replace it for me, even though I came in and told them how to make it correctly. I asked them not to take my word but to do regular online research. Because...

I’ve been here multiple times and had a good experience the first time I went here. The inside is decorated really nicely but the service ruined our entire experience. Before sitting down we went to the counter to order and we’re told we could sit and order online with a QR code. There were teenage girls working behind the counter who were laughing and messily making boba for another customer who had ordered. We ordered at the counter and the girl taking our order didn’t seem to know how to work the register and had to have her manager come help her. The waitresses that brought our food out were laughing and leaned over our table to place the food down. Our food was good up until we found a piece of long black hair tangled into the rice which we proceeded to ask for a refund for. After that we found a shorter piece of black hair in the other meal. We were very polite and didn’t ask for a refund for the second meal but just let the staff know there was hair in the food and the manager was extremely rude telling us we were lying. I do not have black hair so there is no way it was my hair and the waitress and cooks both had black hair. Would not recommend anyone to go here, my appetite was ruined after eating only a few bites of my meal. Overall the staff was immature and the customer service...
