My recent visit to Talayna’s left me and my sisters deeply disappointed and disheartened by the evident display of racism within their customer service. I had hoped for an enjoyable dining experience with my sisters, but sadly, the way we were treated based on our age and race was truly unacceptable.
From the moment we walked in, the staff's attitude towards us was noticeably different compared to other patrons. We was met with icy stares and a lack of genuine hospitality. As we sat down, it became apparent that the discrimination continued as we observed the staff openly providing more attentive service to customers who were of a different race.
When I attempted to engage with the waitstaff, they displayed a dismissive and condescending attitude, ignoring my requests and seemingly prioritizing others over me. It was disheartening to witness such blatant discrimination within an establishment that should embrace diversity and equality.
Not only did the staff's behavior ruin our dining experience, but it also left us questioning the values and ethics of Talayna’s. As a customer, I expected to be treated with respect and fairness, regardless of my background. Unfortunately, that was far from the reality we encountered during my visit.
Racism has no place in any setting, especially within the realm of customer service. It is crucial for businesses to ensure their staff members undergo sensitivity training and foster an inclusive environment that welcomes people from all walks of life. Regrettably, Talayna’s failed to meet these basic expectations.
I sincerely hope that Talayna’s takes immediate action to address and rectify this issue. Racism should never be tolerated, and I encourage potential customers to be aware of the discriminatory practices that I experienced during my visit. I hope that my review serves as a wake-up call for Talayna’s to foster a more inclusive and respectful environment for all its patrons.
Please note that my intention in writing this review is not to harm or defame Talayna’s but rather to raise awareness about the disturbing experience I...
Read moreParty of four. Every small bread plate at our table was dirty. One of the wrapped in a napkin forks, still had a huge amount of food stuck on it. Server gave us new plates, two had to be sent back again. FOOD: Cost was not appropriate for what you got. Chicken Parm tasted freezer burnt, and just a soggy mess. Was so flattened you could have seen through it. Smothered in cheese. It was refused and no re-order was taken. Tour of Italy, lasagna looked and tasted old and kept warm throughout evening, alfredo was greasy and tasteless. Only food that looked appetizing was the Burger, but it has to be sent back because it had a piece of blue plastic on it. Owner claimed it was parsley and it just looked blue under the light. It was blue plastic, owe it guy, it goes over better with an unhappy customer. ATMOSPHERE: this is the only nice thing I can say about the whole place, it was nice inside. WAIT STAFF: we had a new server, she felt mortified (her words) that we were having this kind of experience, was very nice about the whole deal. Another waitress, was rude and could be overheard complaining to another table about how difficult we were being that she was glad we weren't at her table. BTW, after so much going on, dishes being sent back, our meal was finally comp'd by the owner, we still tipped the waitress, it wasn't her fault it was going bad, she was new. OVERALL OPINION: You couldn't pay us enough to ever try it again. Several unclean dishes, food was awful (cept burger) and a very rude waitress (not ours) and an Owner that tried to convince was that we didn't know the difference between blue plastic and green parsley and just wouldn't own that it was a mistake. Just fix it, don't argue. Our bill, for four, no alcohol drinks, would have easily been over $100 dollars without tip. Not...
Read moreHad a delicious lunch! They offer unlimited pizza, salad and pasta for a very good price! Always enjoy coming here during the week! - this was my review from 2 years ago. This is my current review: Always go here when we make trips to STL, we live an hour away. Today my best friend and I spent the day out with our sons (both boys are around 2 1/2). It was both boys nap time, one was slap happy and the other was upset. It was very clear that we were trying to calm both boys as we were seated and quickly started getting our food ($15 lunch special). When our pizzas came the woman who brought them to us set them down saying “hopefully this will make them happy as other people are trying to eat”. We quickly collected our things and got boxes, paid and left and ended up having a “picnic” in the back of my car with our boys. We were so upset by this woman’s comment as it was clear we were struggling with the boys, and they weren’t being constantly disturbing, which is why we didn’t get up and leave while we waited for food. We would have loved to have been asked to move to a less busy area of the restaurant but instead this worker (who we found out was the manager after calling to talk to someone about the situation) was extremely rude to two moms who were just trying to have a good day out with their sons. We love the food but unfortunately we will not be back to support this business. Our waitress was exceptional and continued to apologize while we left while we were trying to hold back tears. After calling the restaurant tonight and speaking to the woman who made the comment and explaining how the comment made us feel, she had no remorse and said she was overwhelmed as well with having 3 tables and just continued to be rude...
