Gelsosomo's Pizzeria Chesterton — Restaurant in Chesterton

We stopped in for a family dinner this past weekend while vacationing in the area. Having had pizza the night before (A.J.s - excellent), we were looking for something else. So let me make it clear that we didn't try Gelsosomo's pizza. It may in fact be the best pizza in the area- you'll have to check out the other reviews or try it yourself. I can tell you their hamburgers are worse than what they served in public school. These were thicker but still had a strange look, texture, and taste. My guess is they're precooked patties of very low quality meat that's warmed up in the microwave. My teenage son, starving from a day at the beach, took one bite and pushed it aside. Mine was horrible as well.

My daughter ordered the spaghetti and meatballs. The meatballs were pushed overboard after one bite (see burgers above). The sauce was straight from a very, very cheap can, and the pasta tasted like it was warmed up. It came with breadsticks. They were the 'rip apart' kind you might find in a grocery. I could tell you about my wife's meal but you get the point.

I'd guess that anything outside of pizza is just ready made food reheated to order. To say that you might find a better meal at a gas station is not an exaggeration. Don't do it....go with their pizza or go somewhere else.

In full disclosure, I made no complaints to the waitress or manager who may well have offered to replace a dish or refund the costs. The food was so bad I wouldn't have tried anything else...and on the other hand I'm not the type to ask for a...

My Dad and I have ordered here for many years and never had any complaints . Within the last year I have been disappointed twice by their customer service. First time was when I came in to pick up a pizza and was told it would be another 15 min wait. Well 15 min turned into almost an hour. I went to check again with the gal at the front and apparently they had either burned the pizza or had forgotten to put it in. And all I got for resolution was a free coke! Well just last week I had placed an order for delivery and this time it was over an hour wait!? Apparently there were no drivers to available to accept the ticket!?? And I was livid since the pizza had been sitting in a hot box for a while. The pizza has always been tasty; however customer service is drastically going downhill at the Chesterton store! Again, no resolution. I even told the gal this was the 2nd time this has happened to us. I have been in the hospitality/service industry for over 20 yrs and this was unacceptable. The least you could have done was maybe offer a discount off the next order. If you cannot deliver within the hour as it states on your website then either call the customer back or offer some sort of compensation for the next time. For goodness sakes, when the delivery guy came to the house he didn't even have our name for the delivery!!!!! Customer service training definitely needed.
