Amarit Thai and Sushi (CHICAGO Location) — Restaurant in Chicago

I haven't had any opportunity to visit this location in years but my server (the owner) gently reminded me of her previous location in Chicago's Coast on Dearborn Street and immediately my memory was jarred.

This particular location is convenient if you live in Printer's Row (South Loop) and the menu is diverse featuring traditional Thai curry dishes, noodle 🍜 entrees, wonderful soup 🍲 and various seafood options including sushi 🍣 and sashimi.

I chose the seafood soup which is primarily broth, mushrooms, mussels, shrimp, squid 🐙 and a variety of onions 🌰 and lemongrass. If you're not feeling well I highly recommend you order their specialty soups because you'll instantly feel better because of all the ginger and other herbs used that make these broths so flavorful.

Another must is ordering the Thai ice tea 🍵 and Thai iced coffee ☕ it's one of the best in Chicago and tasty like a dessert.

The restaurant itself is cozy and laid back with plenty of booths by the window if you enjoy people watching.

I remember visiting here in the summer years ago and enjoying outdoor patio seating so I hope 🙏 they bring that back this summer so I can relax outside with my mountain dog 🐕

If you love Thai cuisine in a non fussy and relaxed setting you will definitely appreciate this independently owned...

I'm excited every time I come to Amarit and I'm finally writing my review. Amarit is flavorful! It's nothing short or delicious. I love Thai food, but coming here is a joy. The atmosphere is standard but the food is dynamite. The service is always good. They're quick but not so helpful with menu questions. It's 50/50. Our favorite appi is the shrimp cakes. Oh my goodness I wish I had them all my life. We also always get the thai basil chicken too. It's basically a chopped chicken packed with flavor, on the spicy side. I love it. Last time I also took one to go. This last visit was my first time trying their sushi. Mam, I was not disappointed! We.ate the Pink Lady & the Spicy Tuna. Called ahead to place order, the lady was a bit rude and short with me but I guess she could have been busy. I ordered a noddle dish and an order of egg rolls. She said it would take 30-45 min. I was surprised it took that long and repeated the length of time to be sure I heard correctly. She then changed the time to 25 min and then to 20..not sure what that was about. I arrive to pick up my order and she was really pushy getting me to pay, I asked how much longer it would be and she said she didn't know and just asked me to pay. Someone in the back overheard me ask and went to check and came back out with my food immediately. Seems like the lady was just overwhelmed and didn't handle it well. Other than the strange off-putting lady the food was really good. Definitely great noodles, good portions. Price wise was up there, just those 2 items were $22 which was a bit steep in my opinion but given the location of the place I guess it should...
