Overall: Great specials and great food are the highlights at this surprising gem in the neighborhood. The good: The food is surprisingly great for a bar, with fantastic specials to pair with it. We went on half-off pizza night, so naturally we got a large pizza for $13 to split for two. It was big enough for probably 5 people, which meant lots of leftovers (which is a good thing!). And the pizza itself was doughy yet loaded with toppings and cheese, it was glorious. They also have a lot of great beer selections, the staff is friendly, and the overall vibe of the place is dive-y but still clean. And, plenty of TVs for games. The not-so-good: The music was too loud, it was hard to have conversations with our group. They were also playing boy bands all night which, given the older crowd, was not appropriate. Sometimes boy bands are good, that night....not so much. Atmosphere: 8/10 Service: 8/10 Food: 9/10

Looking for something to eat and drink late in the south loop, I settled on this place. I was excited about their beer selection and curious about the food. While the staff was friendly, getting them to actually serve me was painful. They were running around the bar doing this that and the third, but couldn't get them to look my way. It seemed like they were more interested in serving their friends and regulars. I would've left except I was starving and finally got a chance to order food. That was disappointing as my $20 poutine was bland AF. Nothing had any real flavor to it and I would've been better off with plain fries and $12 in my pocket. I ate my food, drank my beer and left as soon as I could get anyone to bring me my bill.

This Gem was not even on my list but I am so glad we came across it. This was one of only two 5-Star restaurants for me on my trip. The selections of beer are top notch and can't wait to go back to try more. Most importantly the food was amazing. I pretzel bites were perfect texture, temperature and had great dipping sauces. A pimento cheese and sweet mustard. The pulled pork sandwich was great as well as the red velvet pie we had for dessert. But the best think by was was the sweet potato fries. I love sweet potato fries and have had them in different states and on different continents and these are my new favorite. This place I would highly recommend and will return to when I make it back to Chicago. Thanks First Draft.!!!

The food was good, no complaints there, but the service was comically bad. Got there at around 3:30 in the afternoon and grabbed a table and sat for a few minutes. No one came over, so we grabbed some seats that opened up at the bar. This wasn't a big deal, I actually like sitting at the bar so it worked out.

The bartender ignored us for the first 5 minutes, then asked what we wanted. I asked for a specific beer that didn't happen to be in stock. She informed me they didn't have it then abruptly walked away to serve someone else...

It was now about 3:45 and the place was practically empty except for the bar. We waited another 5 minutes before she came back and we attempted order number two. Also out of stock. She quickly left and disappeared to the other end of the bar where she proceeded to take a shot with some other customers (presumably her friends) then eventually came back and we finally ordered our drinks.

After another 10 minutes or so, we waved her down to put a food order in, which was simple enough, but she gave off the attitude that we were inconveniencing her in some way. My food was fine, but my friends order was incomplete, so we brought it up and it was corrected.

Once it was time for the check, we asked her for two checks. Only one check arrived, so we asked again to split the bill and she refused. She said she didn't want to walk all the way to the register, a whole 5 feet away, to split our bills. Confidence in her abilities was waning, so we gave her two cards to split the check down the middle.

It was a bizarre experience to put it lightly, and we were by no means the only lucky people to recieved such service. We overheard two gentlemen at the end of the bar make some comments as they were leaving and the guy next to us payed for a $9.09 bill with a $20. He asked for $10 back and the surprisingly surprised bartender asked if he was ONLY leaving a 91 cent tip...to which the man cooly replied, "I would like $10 back."

Maybe a one off, maybe not. As an out of towner who travels often, there are a ton of other options to try out.

ADDED AFTER REPLIES: I appreciate the owners response and I do believe this was a one off. This place looked like it could be a really fun time. We definitely chose this bar based on reading good reviews, and there was no shortage of those. I think we just caught it on a...

Unfortunately some of the poorest service I’ve ever received. Came in last night for an early dinner (slightly before 5) before going to a concert at soldier field. Saw the positive reviews so my brothers and I figured it would be a good place to check out on the way. It seemed busy, and, as someone who has been in the industry for years and is currently a server, I understand being understaffed all too well. But I’ve never seen it like this. Our first beer took 30 minutes to make it to our table, almost on the dot. During this time saw the server and bartender mingling around, even stopping to take a shot with the rest of the staff. Received no more than a brief apology. We wanted to go ahead and order a second round on the spot knowing how long it took for the first, but our server hurried away as soon as she dropped off our beers, even as we tried to interject. Made the mistake of ordering a small pour, if I would’ve known the wait time I would’ve opted for one of the larger beers. Our food came out relatively prompt, and was pretty good. Appetizer came out with our meals which was kind of annoying but no big deal. Worst part was that we never saw our server again throughout the WHOLE meal. We didn’t even get ketchup for our fries or silverware, a check back to make sure everything was right and never got a chance to order our second beer. Our server was paying special attention to a table of people she knew obviously, they got their drinks in a minute max. Could not do anything to flag her down or get her attention until we pretty much finished. Super disappointing, I know very well sometimes there’s just off nights but we definitely won’t consider a return any time soon. Props to the busboy on the floor though, he was on top of things and super cool. Couldn’t get another beer but had plenty of water refills...

We were visiting from out of town and staying in the South Loop area. We wanted to find a sports bar that had college football games, a nice selection of craft beers, and good food, and boy, did we find that place! We got there just before 5:00 on a Saturday. It was busy but a table had just opened up. There were many TV’s broadcasting a bunch of different games. The place was loud, but we were still able to carry a conversation sitting across the table from each other.

They had 64 craft beers on tap. It was fun trying out some different and local brews. We ordered the fried pickle chip’s appetizer and they were really good! Lightly battered and just the right amount of crunch. I ordered the Slammin’ Salmon sandwich which was the Saturday special. It was delicious! Big piece of salmon with a lemony aioli sauce, avocado, and greens on a beautiful brioche bun. I chose the Brussels sprout side and it came with a huge mound of them, that I couldn’t even finish. My husband ordered the Cubano with sweet potato fries. He said he really liked his. The sweet potato waffle fries were excellent. Just the right amount of crisp!

Our server was friendly and was very attentive with how busy they were. I definitely recommend...
