I'd be careful having a drink in this place. Was trying to have my first drink of the night, the bar was full of real overserved patrons, which I suppose is it to be expected after the other bars have closed. But after getting grabbed inappropriately by a few female customers, I seemed to have been caught in the middle of some domestic dispute between the blonde bartender and her sister. I'm not sure that bartender is suited for customer service. It seemed that I was being asked to leave in some indirect way because the customer sister was chatting me up. Last call hadn't been called and I was being told that if I was waiting for an Uber to wait outside. Hadn't even finished my first drink of the night which quickly became my last. Before even having the chance to get within 20 feet of the front door, I was being warned by that same doorman that they didn't accept digital ID's. I never even knew that was thing. I had to explain to him for some unknown reason from the sidewalk that I was reading an email. That should have been a sign to not enter, but nothing else was open by the time I was able to finish up something and try to relax with a drink after. It was a real strange and hostile vibe between the doorman and the bartender. I suppose they are edgy due to dealing with obnoxious drunk people. And being 49 years old I think I was too old for the vibe there. I used to like that place when I was younger. I can navigate the drunk customers, even the drunk girls grabbing my crotch, but not much you can do with the poorly trained staff. Oh well. Somewhere else next time I want a drink after 2am. Or just avoid not just there but everywhere. Used to be different. BP is a poor example of the times and city we live in. Not friendly, not welcoming, not a place to relax and spend your money at. I think a revamp of the staff could...
Read moreA friend got removed from the bar for being too intoxicated (They overserved him). This is not my issue. I don't know what he said but a bouncer proceeded to knock him down with a punch (Still not my problem he must have said something stupid). The problem was they continued to punch him in the face as he laid their defenseless. They broke his nose, gave him a severe black eye and a concussion. After telling the bouncer this aggression was unnecessary and telling him to stop he proceeded to charge me, grabbing me by the neck and pushing me out of the bar as he was telling me I had to leave also. I agreed and began walking out but instead of letting me go peacefully he chose to continuously attack me on the way. When we reached the stairs he shoved me from behind sending me halfway down the 20+ step staircase. Thankfully I caught myself on the railing before being seriously injured. None of the bouncers cared, they just watched their coworker attempt to cause serious injury to me simply for asking them to stop assaulting my friend. You deserve a lawsuit and charges pressed against your...
Read more1 star, not because I think the bar is bad in general; the food is great (especially the ribs). 1 star because the bartenders (Miranda, at least) use a sliding scale for cocktail prices and take advantage of clientele. Case in point, walked in with two friends and ordered 3 vodka/red bulls (about midnight). Total cost $30. Later (while waiting for food), ordered another vodka/red bull. $12. Same vodka that cost $10/drink 45 minutes earlier. I've had the same issue multiple times in the past, albeit with beer and over my limit so I won't try to defend those other than to mention they happened. Collectively, it all established a trend. Now, it's just another money-grab Old Town dive that makes you wish you hadn't gone. If you go anyway, just check your wallet after every drink and get receipts...real ones. You'll thank yourself in the morning. Also, beware the arbitrary minimum credit card purchase. Is it $10, $15, or $20? I heard all three in a...
