I recently had the pleasure of visiting Café Consume, located at 3452 S Western Avenue, Chicago, IL 60608, in the McKinley area. From the moment I walked in, I was absolutely captivated. The aroma of freshly brewed coffee filled the air, creating an inviting atmosphere that instantly made me feel at home. The music playing throughout the shop was perfectly curated as well. The owners, Merlos and Guillermo, exuded warmth and hospitality, setting a gold standard for what all café owners should aspire to. Their engaging conversation and vibrant energy made the experience even more memorable.

As a frequent traveler for work and a self-proclaimed matcha connoisseur, I can confidently say that Café Consume serves the best matcha I’ve ever had, rivaling even the renowned Mañana in Austin, TX. In fact, Café Consume slightly edged them out with their exceptional blend.

The tempting aroma of their pain au chocolat, blueberry muffin, canelada, and everything bagel w/ cream cheese made it impossible to choose just one, so I indulged in all of them. Each bite was on point, leaving me thoroughly impressed. This charming café, run by two talented Guatemalan brothers, delivers big, savory flavors that will leave a lasting “feel good” impression.

What truly amped me up was discovering that they also brew Salvadoran coffee beans. As someone from El Salvador, this not only made me happy, but their unique twist on it is like nothing I’ve had before.

Adding to the charm, Merlos and Guillermo have personally built everything in the café, from the bar and reupholstered seats to the concrete wall. Their craftsmanship adds a unique and personal touch to the space, making it even more special.

They offer free Wi-Fi, so I can comfortably work from there while enjoying my drink. They also have a fantastic loyalty card program, making it even more rewarding to keep coming back.

And if you prefer to enjoy your coffee outdoors, you’ll be happy to know they have outdoor seating available. It’s the perfect spot to relax and soak up some fresh air. Café Consume has quickly become my new go-to coffee shop. If you’re ever in the area, do yourself a favor and stop by. It’s a small business with a big heart that promises an...

Stopped by Cafe Consume to try their breakfast sandwiches on two occasions to try both their croissant bacon and everything bagel sausage sandwich. The eggs here are loaded and folded over thick. Big portions that won’t disappoint. You can customize your choice of meat on whichever bread. Happy to report that both choices were delicious. I personally favored the croissant for bread and sausage for meat.

The staff here is extremely friendly and made my visit very welcoming and memorable. One particular staff even remembered me on my second visit, and joked that it was a wise choice of me to come earlier as their croissants were sold out by 11am at my first visit.

There is free street parking a couple streets down the block in all directions, and an outdoor patio with plenty of seating.

Will definitely return for good food and...

Since it’s opening either myself or the rest of my family have been here 6 times. At this point it’s a weekend tradition. 😊 The owners are super cool. It feels like you’ve been friends with them for years. The atmosphere has a great vibe with music always playing in the background. I can’t speak on the drinks because I’m not a tea or coffee drinker but my wife LOVES the chai latte. She’s quoted as saying it’s “some of the best she’s ever had”. The Canelada pastry is amazing. I believe that’s always available with a rotating selection of pasties weekly (they had a Blueberry muffin once with cinnamon streusel which was equally amazing). My wife loves every pastry that she’s tried so far. I HIGHLY recommend this place. See...

This is a great place. I would give it 7 stars for customer service! I loved the vibe of the place. The pastries were sold out by the time I visited so definitely go earlier. I had an iced mocha which was great! Dark chocolate for the win!!! It was a bit too sweet for me, but I prefer my coffee on the bitter side. Definitely one of the better mochas I had. The staff is super sweet, nice and accommodating. They gave their own recommendations and answered my questions without making me feel dumb. They also handed out sample of different teas, which was definitely a great touch. The neighborhood seems a little sketch, but the place is great. I will be back here and bring more people as well!
