First let me say that is is awesome that a new restaurant is opening in McKinley Park. Right in front of another place that is becoming a neighborhood staple. Wanted to stop by and show some support. Appetizers: tried two the patatas bravas typical potatoes in a hot sauce. Just like any other tapas place good taste and fresh. The fried plantains are tasty, the sauce and walnuts give it a great texture. The carne en so jugo while it has a great taste, the sirloin is cooked at the moment you order, so it has great taste. The only issue was that the steak was sliced into large chunks making it difficult to eat. No cutting utensils were provided, I did give feedback to the cook and accepted graciously. Drinks were weak, nothing really stood out. The only other gripe I have is the ambiance and decor doesn’t fit with the quality of food, when you walk in and see the bright lime green and weird color choices, you expect cheaper food and presentation on par with a local taqueria. But the food presentation and quality are not representative. Give a shot, I do recommend the food

We were looking for a light dinner and stumbled upon this place on a Friday night . There was no wait since it was a bit after 8 PM. Our server was helpful and gave us good recommendations. We ordered two items from the menu: Platanos Fritos (Fried Plantains) and Cochinita Pibil. Both dishes were great . The plantains had the perfect level of sweetness, not overly fried, which made them feel healthier. The main dish was delicious with tender meat and beans, presented beautifully. When thinking of Mexican food, we usually consider tacos or burritos for a quick and convenient meal. These dishes, however, were beautifully presented and a delightful treat for us. The owner even came by to ask for our feedback, clearly passionate about his restaurant and food. We loved the experience! If you're looking to try something different in Mexican cuisine, give this place a shot. You'll discover a variety of delicious options!

Came through ive heard good things i should have asked what meat they use on the carne asada plate and the torta asada its different like hanger not sure. This place had some great al pastor and chorrizo tacos we also had a veggie sope 5/5 across the board. The torta of asada was solid the fixings are good on it, lightly toased had hint of garlic somewhere 4/5. For a side we had some mash potatoes great flavor 5/5. Carne asada plate 3/5 we asked for it medium came well cooked we didnt want to ruin our vibe so we ate! Hand made tortillas great 5/5, the plantine and black bean sides are 4/5, id get a side of rice too nextime. I would love a piece of aracherra nextime if they have that option, but i aint mad of there meat and flavor will be back. Total was $59 minus tip for 2. Tip your servers they cool peeps! The atmosphere is bright will be back for another review.

I really didn’t want to have to leave this comment here but my experience was VERY disappointing. Iv been giving this place a ton of business! I come here atleast once a week for the last year and a half and I’ve recommended family and friends to come here too. A couple of my friends have said to me that the food they got wasn’t good. I couldn’t have disagreed more! I kept supporting because even though I too have had dishes that aren’t consistently good I know I can voice my opinion to the owner and he can “try to make it right”. I’ve never had the owner offer me once a refund on any of the bad meals iv received nor was that my intention. When iv complained to him about my meals being done poorly he’s always accepted my feedback and promised to make it better “next time I order”. I never have received discounts on any orders for any inconvenience it might of caused me nor was that my intention. I don’t seek to get anything for free I understand mistakes happen. On the contrary iv kept supporting his business and iv kept coming back. But today’s the last time I eat the food here. I ordered myself a barbacoa torta and a chorizo sope (my usual) and I couldn’t have been more let down. I always order my food for take out and the foam container that he used to place my sope in reeked of raw chorizo. I still took a bite and tried to eat it but after my 3rd bite I tossed it out. I couldn’t believe the food in general smelled bad and it could’ve been raw. I proceeded to try my barbacoa torta and it was disappointing too, the meat was tough compared to the other times iv ordered it and didn’t taste good. I tossed that out too. Well guess what happened next..I ended up having to go into an urgent care because I got food poisoning! I called the restaurant and I asked to speak to the owner and instead his wife proceeded to hear my complaint out. I guess she’s not used to handling complaints and put the phone down instead while she got her husband to take my call. When he took the phone from her he seemed very annoyed that “it was me again”. He wanted me to go over my complaint once more even though I overheard his wife explaining to him exactly what I had already said to her. He told me himself that he’s tired of hearing me complaining and that he doesn’t know how to move forward with me. I felt very belittled and angry that the owner would even handle a serious complaint like this. He wouldn’t let me talk and would talk over me which I found very rude and disrespectful. He blamed me for getting sick and assuming that it was his food that landed me in the doctor’s office. I was beyond appalled that he was very ticked off by my complaint over his food that he sells at his restaurant. He told me that he’s been opened for the last 4 years and he’s never received any complaints like mine and that i was very hard to please. He even had the audacity to ask me if “I’m like this everywhere I go?”. The amount of times I told him to stop talking over me and he still did it is ridiculous. He blamed me for all of his inconsistencies and laughed when i said i was seeking a refund this time and i wasn’t going to return as a customer again. He said he would love to give me a refund but i have to return in person to get my money back in cash, even though i paid with card. I also let him know I didn’t feel comfortable going back into his business knowing he bluntly disrespected me as a customer and made me feel belittled. I don’t like complaining but this was the last straw. I advise you if you want to try authentic Mexican cuisine please try elsewhere. It will either be a hit or a miss and every miss will cost you your hard...

I'm conflicted with this place. Judging from the look of the place, I thought it would be a dirty diner style mexican food. But no! The food is actually upscale. They also serve wine. But you wouldn't know this by passing by. I hope they invest in redecorating in the future. It would do the restaurant good.

I really enjoyed the vegetarian options on the menu. I had the veggie enchiladas in peanut sauce. And they were amazing.

Unfortunately, my guest did not enjoy anything about the place as much as I did. She had their chicken pozole and ordered guac - since we noticed they didn't put out courtesy chips and salsa. She asked to NOT have onion on the pozole, but when they brought the guac, it had tons of onions on it. The server didn't bother to let her know that even though she already noted that she didn't want onions in the pozole, gave her double in the guac. Make it make sense 🙄.

To make matters worse, they brought the chicken pozole topped with PORK in it. We told the server we don't eat pork, and she suggested to remove the pork meat from the soup and give us the same bowl back. 🤯 This is disturbing to hear because it's pretty obvious they don't have training in food safety/handling/sanitization.

Also, when we got the bill, we were surprised at how expensive the guac was for the dollop they served. So they're canceled for us, but I see they have a great cook and have a lot...
