Huck Finn Restaurant — Restaurant in Chicago

To start off we get to the restaurant and are seated I noticed that the table is dirty with spilled sugar I just assumed they refilled it and spilled a little. I swept it off to the side. We waited for five minutes for waters and menus, we wait another 10 minutes for our orders to be placed. Take note that this location does not have kid menus. The food comes and my sandwich came with coleslaw I take one bites & spit it back out it’s completely spoiled and rancid! The waitress doesn’t come back until she brings us the check at which point I tell her about the spoiled coleslaw and she says “yeah another customer said the same thing” and walks away. No apology…. so yeah they knowingly are serving spoiled food to customers and don’t care. Throughout our time there 10 tables have had customers come and go. The whole time I’m watching our waitress and the Busboy pick up the old plates and food and sit down new napkins and silverware at each table without wiping them off. NOT ONE table was sanitized in between customers!! Before we left I spoke with the manager and told him what we seen and told him that he could look around at every table and see the crumbs left over from the people before and he just said OK and brushed me off. So I’m actually here right now, I’m gonna start by saying I’m African American dining in at a restaurant in McKinley park. Keke obviously doesn’t like blacks in her neighborhood and KEKE needs hands put on her for making me feeling the way she did. I walked in and I saw a sign that said WAIT FOR HOSTESS TO SEAT YOU .. When I initially got here the hostess named KEKE looked past me and offered menus to the patrons behind me also offered to seat them she completely ignored me and I obviously walked in before them so I waved my hand politely like hello can I be seated , she rudely said “you can seat yourself” I responded with “can I get a menu” she pretty much threw the menu into my hand very aggressively. I sat and ordered my food with very sweet waitress I’m currently pregnant and just wanted an omelette for breakfast . Everyone after me that came into the restaurant she was very polite to and seated them promptly and of course they were of the Hispanic race like Keke herself. The food was just ok, my omelette came out more like a scramble, which I didn’t mind because I understand sometimes things can’t come out perfectly but the eggs also were brown & the hash browns were inedible . I work in the food industry I am a chef & have also been a host amongst other things in the industry for over 10 years. Maybe I looked young, I don’t know what it was but what I do know is I didn’t deserve to be treated this way. You never know what someone is going through you should...

I have been back at least a half dozen times since i discovered this excellent late night /early morning spot. I am sure they are great for lunch as well, but I have only had breakfast and dinner there. They are always keeping the specials fresh w new choices. I have never had meatloaf this good since my grandma's when i was a kid! I was at the point in my life where i had given up looking for good homemade meatloaf. They can make any omelette you can dream up. You can ask them to cook them anyway you like or how you would make them at home.

If that wasn't enough, the have fresh donuts made every day. There are many choices although i prefer a glazed or boston creme. If your looking for sundae's or milkshakes, you don't have to find a malt shop cuz Huck Finn's got you.

Personally everytime i go there, i am shocked how quickly my food is prepared and I am usually adding/changing to what's on the menu too. On those tough nights where I am getting off work late and have no desire to cook but want something non drive thru, I call in an order and pick it up on my way home.

The waitresses and staff overall is very courteous and accommodating. I have only been to the one on Archer, but I am sure the other 2 locations are excellent as well.

If that's not enough ......... They even give you a free dessert 🍨...
