Dee's — Restaurant in Chicago

I have never had food at this restaurant but I have picked up from here a few times before today at 6:29pm 1/22/23. I went in to pick up an order and I didn’t get any help at all someone that came in after me got help before me. I give her a few more minutes because I thought maybe he came earlier. No that was not the case she just don’t ask me anything and I had to ask her about the order. I waited a few minutes to find out that order was not paid for on her end which would have been good to know if she would have acknowledged that I was in the store in the first place.I had to call the delivery company to get help canceling the order and had to go back to talk to the lady working in the front. For her to tell me that the order was not paid for again and to call the delivery company and I told her I’m on the phone with them now they just want know will you guys be making the order. It seem like she didn’t understand me at all so I just told them when she told me they was not making the order and to cancel it. It’s very sad that other women can’t give woman the same respect as a man. If I was the other color of them woman she was helping I would have had a better experience getting an order situated. I definitely will not pick up from here again she was very unprofessional...

I was a huge fan of the chicken fried rice. Unfortunately a family member had ordered the cucumber salad and asked the ingredients as she has a specific allergy. When we sat down to eat she immediately froze and had an allergic reaction. She has eaten many cucumber salads and not once have they had ginger. The menu does not state ginger in it, nor did the person who took her order and reviewed the ingredients. She was luckily able to get a refund but it was just for the salad. When she spoke to the manager they assured her that all cucumber salads have ginger (they don’t) and were defensive instead of being accommodating. They did not call her back when prompted. Otherwise, no other accommodations were made as she was a first time customer. If you have specific allergies be sure to ask the owner! I believe they told my sister they would adjust the menu to show ingredient list. The owner took care of it otherwise I was worried about her aspiring...

What happened to my favorite place for YEARS? Dee's was literally the best around for so long... something happened after they closed the dining room. The food is now just OK when it used to be amazing, even for delivery. Got our order just now - it was on time, which was great - but no mustard or sweet sauces for the eggrolls and crab rangoon. I had yakitori - noodles were mushy and no flavor in the sauce. We also got some sweet and sour, which was ok, but it used to come with big veggies, and meat in a separate container to mix at home for the best presentation. Now, all pre mixed, small veggies, and a soggy mess. Very sad about this once...
