I have never experienced such rude and unprofessional customer service. I understand that some businesses have been around for a long time, but that does not give them the right to disrespect paying customers. I politely approached the counter and mentioned that my Italian beef tasted spoiled. Everyone knows that lunch meat can go bad, so let’s not pretend it doesn’t. Instead of addressing my concern professionally, an older man with a balding head came out aggressively, yelling, “Who threw the Italian beef in the garbage?” My best friend had thrown it away because it tasted spoiled. He didn’t ask for a refund. He simply discarded food that he paid for because it was inedible. But for some reason, this man felt entitled to go off on him just for disposing of bad food. Do some businesses think they’re above accountability just because they’ve been around for years? Or maybe he thinks that since he survived the pandemic with PPP money, he’s untouchable? Either way, this restaurant needs a visit from the Department of Public Health because no one should be serving spoiled food. On top of that, the way they speak to customers is completely unacceptable. If we had escalated the situation, we would have been labeled as “angry” or whatever stereotype people love to use. But instead, we remained calm and professional—even as we were being disrespected. Bottom line: This place is disgusting, the food is questionable, and the customer service is even worse. Avoid at all costs.

I had not been here in a few years. Last I remember the grilled ribeye sandwich was phenomenal. I passed the place by and remembered hoped to repeat the last memorable meal. Oh well, so much for that hope. I order grilled chicken with cheese (extra cost) mayo grilled onions lettuce tomato, fries cooked soft, and a drink. All I enjoyed was the drink. I get home…12 minutes later, the fries are old cold and not soft, there’s no mayo or cheese, minimal grill onions and the chicken breast was dry. Perhaps you’d do better cooking your own food in the newly remodeled kitchen. Also, where your heels if you’re under 5’6” because the hole to place the order is so high, if you don’t heels, you’ll be on you tip toes for the top hole or you cheek on the counter if you choose the bottom. I called to inform them of this mess. The cashier repeated my order exactly as I told you and then explained that THE CHEESES ANS MAYO would have been the sandwiches saving grace. She apologized but that does nothing for the time I had to eat and finish my day. Very disappointing.

The Italian ice here was my favorite part of visiting Chicago! Their strawberry, mango, and watermelon paired perfectly with the pina colada or cucumber lime. All flavors have tons of real fresh fruit in them (including cucumber!) One of the waitresses was SO nice, insisting we try watermelon with the cucumber lime instead of pina colada with cucumber lime, and she was SO right! (the cucumber/lime & pina colada are both too plain/less sweet by themselves). I wish we lived closer...but you have inspired us to try making this at home. MUST try the Italian ice here! The 32 oz was only $8 & was enough to share among 2 or 3 people.

I got the cheeseburger daily special and my husband got the pulled pork cheese fries. I liked that the cheeseburger is more like a charbroiled burger and reminiscent of a backyard bbq type of burger. With everything on it, it's lettuce, onions, tomatoes, pickles, mustard and ketchup. It wasn't half bad. The fries are average. Nothing out-of-the-ordinary about them.

I was not a fan of the pulled pork cheese fries. There was so much sauce that the fries went soggy very quickly and it was all one mushy texture with a very overpowering BBQ sauce flavor. And this is totally a personal preference, but the BBQ sauce is also on the sweet side whereas I prefer it more vinegary or peppery.

We also tried the strawberry mango Italian ice. It's got a crumbly texture, which was a little strange to me. Not as refreshing as...
