Maxwell Street Depot — Restaurant in Chicago

I’m giving these guys 5 stars because they came in clutch after a concert at the Guarenteed Rate Field (White Sox).

We needed food to get us through the 3 hour drive home and this place was one of the only places open at that time of night.

Not being from the area, I was a little concerned from pictures and not sure if it would be safe but there were plenty of people walking around after the concert. I pulled right into the lot to the side of the building to park. They have a simple menu and a walk-up counter. Our food was ready within seconds. Literally seconds.

I got the polish sausage how it comes onions and mustard, with a hot pepper on the side and my daughter got a hamburger. They both came with French fries, and they threw in catchup packets napkins and salt too.

Those plus two bottles of water was just $15. You cannot beat that price even at a mc’ds. Plus the guys working were super friendly.

The food was greasy and delicious. My car smelled like grilled onions the next morning, but it was well worth it....

Update: Just had their scrambled egg with bacon and cheese, and it is delicious! Their pork chop sandwich was so tender with those sweet grilled onions, mmmm

This is a place with famously excellent polishes and pork chops that are pretty tasty and reasonably priced. The burgers and hot dogs are very basic. The burgers are made from frozen patties. The fries are very crisp on the outside and soft on the inside. BTW it's all served with grilled onions and mustard, so be sure to let them know if that's not your thing. They are open 24 hours and are CASH only. There are no restrooms, and it is take out only. If you like your salt, ask for salt on the side because the food...

Great late night eats, stupendous "real" fast food. The cheeseburgers here are easily my #1 favorite burger; I really didn't think I'd enjoy their standard loadout of only mustard and grilled onions, they're working some magic in there because boy was I wrong!

I make fairly regular trips to Chicago and Maxwell Street Depot is my go-to food stop for a quick bite on the way home. It's amazing how quickly your food is ready, usually something like 1-3 minutes from ordering to bag of food sitting in front of you. Good luck getting anywhere even close to this speed (or quality) from a franchise...
