It's so unfortunate that I'm having to write this review because our first experience at this restaurant was quite positive. About a month ago, we got their family meal for four off of Caviar, and it was delicious.
Unfortunately, tonight I ordered food from UberEats and scheduled it for 6:45-7:15 pm (note: on UberEats, it is noted that this restaurant uses their own delivery drivers and not Uber drivers). At 7:20 pm, I called the restaurant because there was no update on my food. The lady I spoke to said it was done, but their delivery driver wasn't there. I asked for an ETA and she let me know that they would call when the driver got to the restaurant so I would know when to expect the food. At 7:45 pm, called the restaurant again (at least 4x) and no one picked up. For the next 15 minutes, called the restaurant again (multiple times) and there was no answer. At this point, I decided food probably was never going to show, so I made food for myself and tried to cancel the order on UberEats (which was made impossible by UberEats inability to connect me to a "specialist").
After I ate my own home-cooked food (at 8:50 pm), I decided why not call the restaurant again just to check in and see. The same lady picks up (finally) and lets me know that actually, the food was delivered and should be in my lobby. Why wasn't I called as promised?
I go down to the lobby half expecting the food to not really be there. It is though, and as soon as I return up to my apartment, my UberEats app notifies me that the order was marked as delivered...1.5 hrs after the expected delivery time.
Normally, I am forgiving with restaurants when working through apps like Doordash or UberEats because I understand that using the middle man can in itself cause problems (it's happened to me before). But this was an in-house delivery. Plus, the fact that my calls were ignored between 7:45 and 8:50 pm and were only picked up after the food finally showed up really takes the cake. Now, after having eaten my dinner, I have a bag of cold food sitting in...
Read moreIn the heart of a city that pulsates with an eclectic mix of culinary traditions, there lies a gem that has quietly woven itself into the fabric of our lives. This isn't just any restaurant; it's our culinary sanctuary, a place we find ourselves drawn to almost bi-weekly, not just for the food, which in itself is a celebration of flavors, but for the warmth and generosity that greet us each time we step through its doors. The Paneer Bhurjee here is nothing short of a masterpiece. Each bite is a symphony of perfectly balanced spices and freshly crumbled paneer, a testament to the skill and passion that goes into its creation. The Naan, soft, fluffy, and always served piping hot, is the perfect companion to this dance of flavors. However, it is the Dal Makhani that truly embodies the soul of this place – rich, comforting, and simmered to perfection, it speaks of home, of tradition, and of an unwavering commitment to excellence. But what sets this establishment apart isn't just its exceptional culinary offerings. It's the owners – their unparalleled generosity and genuine warmth transform dining into an experience that transcends the ordinary. Read moreWe have had take outs before from this restaurant and the north-indian menu was good in both quality and quantity. Yesterday for the first time we went to dine in person on a snowy weekday evening( party of 3 including a senior and a pregnant women). There were 1 male and 2 female staff. There was a group of 4 waiting before us. And we were supposed to be next. But the guy seated people who came after us saying there were seats for 1/2. After a long wait when a table near the doorway got empty we sat there, cold air was hitting us every time door was opened. after placing the order, another table in a corner got free, and we asked the waiter if we could switch tables as we felt cold and obviously, its going to be a while to even start serving us. He rudely responded that everyone feels cold, we cant change everytime, and they need the table for people coming in. Within 2 minutes another couple wanted to move and he moved them( they came after us, got seated before us and the lady had already started with her drinks ). We felt highly offended and discriminated. He also came and started arguing with us and we were clearly not in mood for such a bad day and wanted to leave and he cancelled our order with no regret. Never had such a bad experience ever in Chicago or anywhere in US. We are never going back to that place anymore. They are running mostly on takeout orders. With such employees, they will surely face consequences soon. Everyone wont leave quietly like us after...
