On a sunny Sunday morning, my husband and I took a leisurely stroll near Harrison's and decided to stop for brunch at a nearby restaurant. We stumbled upon Luna Cafe, which had a solid 4-star rating on Google, so we decided to give it a try—keeping our expectations in check.
Food (4/5): We ordered two burritos, a croissant with cream cheese, and coffee. We were pleased to find plenty of vegetarian options across the menu. The burritos were lightly spiced but tasty, and the croissant was incredibly soft and melted in the mouth. I tried a coconut-flavored coffee, which was delightful, while my husband stuck with his usual black coffee, which was just okay.
Service (5/5): Our waitress (whose name I unfortunately forgot) was prompt, polite, and super friendly. She gave great recommendations based on her personal favorites, which we really appreciated.
Atmosphere & Pricing (4/5): The cafe has a cozy and comfortable vibe, perfect for a relaxed brunch. However, I found the pricing a bit steep: $4.99 for a black coffee, $12.99 per burrito, and ($5) Croissant with cream cheese. They charge an extra 3% for card payments, so pay in cash if we need to skip that.
Overall bill was around $49 with taxes for two people for a simple brunch which i find bit on the higher side of average.
Parking: There’s plenty of paid parking available nearby, which was convenient.
Overall: It was a decent brunch experience, though I think the prices could be a little lower. I’d likely stop by again if I’m in the area, but it’s not a place I’d go out of my way to visit.
Sorry, forgot to...
Read moreI get it-being in the restaurant business and waiting tables while just now coming out of a pandemic can be a challenge especially when customers can sometimes be difficult. I am not a difficult customer and because of what I mentioned at the beginning of this review, I tend to OVER tip. However, my waitress at this diner did not get a tip from me at all and I would say, if you’re hungry, find somewhere else to go because this ain’t it. Here’s why: • I paid 21 bucks for a steak I did not eat. I wasn’t even warm and so tough, you could scrub a skillet with it. •I asked the waitress if I could have another for the above reason. I get an instant attitude from her. I ask for the manager and she says to me, “You’re gonna get the same answer.” Now, I’ve decided she’s getting nothing out of me. If they don’t fix my steak, then it will come out of her tip. •Manager comes over and like she said, he refused to make another steak. He offered to reheat it. It’s not edible, so there’s that. He then tells me it’s not hot because the steak sauce is cold. The steak sauce was not cold and even if it was, it would never cool down a steak. I guess he thought I was stupid.
I don’t gel well with poor customer service. I myself have been in the service industry for almost three decades. People pay for good service whether it’s a five star restaurant or a basic diner,...
Read moreThe waiters and waitresses are all extremely kind, but something is going on with the chefs. Recipes that are normally excellent will occasionally come out cold, burned, or as some sort of bizarre mush.
That last part is what caused me to write a review. My partner got her french toast, and it clearly had been left sitting in egg mixture for too long. It was served flat, flavorless, and with a gross texture.
This has never happened before. She tried to get through it, but we've had pleasant talks with the waitress in the past, and we'd never complained before, even when food was cold or overcooked. We thought, just this once, we'd speak up and ask for a couple slices to be redone.
I understand the food industry; things get hectic and slip past you. Sometimes you burn things, sometimes you leave your bread in egg mixture for too long, I get it.
The waitress was kind enough to oblige, but when she came back, she said the chef just threw it back on the grill. It was marginally better at best and such a slap in the face given it didn't address the actual issue.
This used to be our favorite place to eat. What's going on back there? Hire an additional chef or tell the chef you have to wake up. Mistakes can be forgiven if you address them with a little...
