Growing up in Chicago, my first Harold's Chicken experience was on 71st and State! Whenever I find myself wanting Harold's, it's that nostalgic taste and smell that I crave. This downtown Harold's didn't meet the match as far as taste, but it was a pleasant experience. The quickness of the food being prepared was unlike my experience at any Southside Harold's..lol. They were quick, no 30 minutes waits. The customer service was amazing! I had 3 wings and 3 shrimps. The wings were just ok, not a fan of seasoned fries when I go to Harold's. I must say that they were generous with the mild sauce. The shrimp were a nice size and they tasted really good. I definitely miss my high school Harold's that was on the corner of 63rd Street and King Dr., and Crazy Howard McGee's Harold's that was 85th and Stony Island. When you've always had it, you know what it should taste like!

If the saying "A hole in the wall" was an actual establishment, then this fledgling restaurant would be a definite contender. I was taken aback at the sheer lack luster and lethargy, starting the minute I walked in. Ranging from poor customer service to food preparation. There is no reason that the boneless breast on my chicken sandwich should taste like fish. Signaling that they drop the chicken and fish all in the same grease. I'm sure that's hazardous on some level. Not only that, but my chicken was extremely crispy and dry. Leaving me to believe that this was a breast from earlier in the day that was refried or redropped in grease to fulfill my order. Awful! The chicken was crunchy and unseasoned. There was no flavor at all. I have to drown this sandwich in hot sauce, each bite just to make it through the sandwich. The fries also tasted of fish and not warm. Not to mention that I did not get the correct order to begin with. I received someone else's meal initially and had to go back to get this awful, overcooked sandwich. On top of that, I continue to have to go back to retrieve items like cole slaw and sauces. All items that the menu says are included as a combo. Also, during my entire time there it was extremely loud from other guests that had no sense of surrounding or quite frankly didn't care if other people dining in were made uncomfortable from them having their entire conversation on speaker phone. The atmosphere is not conducive for a positive dine...

There was a short, troll sized, light skin Latin woman working who was very rude. She was the classic example of what you don't want serving nor working for you. When initially giving my order I was told by another employee (who was wearing all blue and was an absolute sweetheart, that lady was awesome) that I would receive coleslaw, fried and bread with my meal. I decided to substitute another item for my fries and payed the up charge. When I received my order it came without coleslaw. When I went to the front desk, the repugnant employee stated that "customers have to ask for coleslaw" lol when I let her know that the other employee told me it came with my meal irregardless, she stated "do I have to explain to you again?". At that point I understood this was an obvious case of an interaction between an intellectual and a low IQ person as she was HEARING but not LISTENING. I smirked and when I did not give her a reaction she changed her demeanor and tone of voice. Just as a child would when they're caught in the act. Nevertheless the chicken was actually good, loved the texture, a nice crunch. As for the wings I loved the hot sauce with them not the mild. Fries were as I expected which is why I didn't order them, greasy af. Strawberry Cheesecake was cool, a simple desert that hit the spot. The Mac and cheese was garbage, don't order that. Drink was Dr. P so idk about their other fountain drinks. Enjoy the good food and good luck with...

I wrote a negative review of this restaurant last month due to old fish and a random $5 charge to my order. I went back this weekend on saturday to see if it might be better now.

The young man at the register was waiting for customers to walk in, unlike last time the little lady on her phone waiting for someone to wake her up. He made conversation with me. There was a young lady cleaning up the restaurant which is a relief from last time too since the place was filthy.

I informed him what happened last time and he agreed with me that this place has a lot stuff to fix but said he’ll take care of me.

I ordered my large fillet and the cashier said to try the Mac because the recipe is new and improved, he told me he likes the half and half lemonade and I should try it. 13 mins and my order was ready for me to eat. The mac cheese was bomb The fish was crispy and tasteful. I got sauces on the side with lemon pepper on it. The drink was good as well, too sweet for my liking but tasteful. He forgot to put coleslaw with my order to which I told the young lady. She said sorry about that and said they changed it to be per requests only since most folks don’t like it. She gave me two for the inconvenience.

PS NO BATHROOM.

They said it doesn’t work but it said the same last month too .

Different story from last time I came in. Overall for the new experience I had

Wait time: 13 mins Service: 5/5 Food:...
