So glad I tried this hidden gem!!! Ive always been curious about this place bc it's kind of in an odd location not near any other restaurants on a busy street. We came on a Tuesday evening. We were the only ones there initially, we were seated immediately and served right away with green salsa red salsa tostito chips and water. The salsas were delicious and definitely tasted homemade!! We ordered the red posole large, steak tampiqueño which came with rice, beans, avocado, salad, cheese enchilada, and tortillas, and also the taco dinner which comes with 3 tacos (ordered red pork), rice and beans, no drinks just water. Red Posole $13 Pro: -pork was super tender and delicious -the garnish of white cabbage, white onion and limes were fresh -tortillas looked and tasted handmade! Not sure if they are Con: -the broth wasn't as flavorful as I thought it seemed a bit watered down and didn't have a kick to it I did add the red salsa and it was better Would not order it again though. Steak Tampiqueño $21 Pros: -fresh tortillas -fluffy rice -fresh avocado slices -steak was juicy and tender Cons: -the cheese they melt onto the steak was a little heavy for me, the texture wasn't great gooey like putty/glue but flavor wise it was fine -the rice was fluffy but lacked a bit of flavor, it was good but not the best -the steak was a thick cut so it was difficult to eat in the tortilla like a taco I had to cut into tiny bite size pieces, it's not like your typical skirt steak served in tacos that's thinly sliced, this was half an inch thick piece of steak so I would not order again bc of the thickness. If you don't mind a thick steak then try it, flavor wise it was good. 3 Pork Taco dinner $15 Pros: -they stuff them very well with meat and garnish like tomatoes, cheese, lettuce -the red pork was very tender and flavorful!! -fresh tortillas, probably handmade No cons for this one, would order this taco dinner again!!😋 My favorite part was the service, the place is very clean, the waitress was quick about clearing tables and wiping them clean. Our specific waitress was super professional and provided excellent service!!! She anticipated our needs before we even got a chance to ask and she gave us extra napkins, a pitcher of water, checked on us twice to see if we needed anything like more salsa etc. She provided us with small bowls to share the large posole without us having to ask. She was on it with everything!!! Now that's quality service!!! 5/5 stars ⭐ Overall, the food was good just the rice and posole broth lacking some flavor but the salsa made up for it and the service was great! I will be returning to try their burritos, stuffed cheese peppers, and some dessert. Definitely give this place a try!

They start you off with your traditional chips and salsa and also offered a nice hot soup. I ordered the tampiquena dinner which comes with an enchilada, rice and beans and a good cut of arrachera. Food was average but tasted pretty decent and authentic. Only thing that was different is that they do add cheese on the steak itself. I would come back. Wonderful service.

10/10!!! Everything is fantastic quality from the chips & salsa, to the steak and service! I’ve been going here for decades, and to this day, it never disappoints. Steak-lovers must try! I would recommend the Carne A La Tampiquena

They really do know how to prepare and cook a steak here. Their carne asada dinner is excellent, I highly recommend it. I was served a Carne Asada portion that was very large. It was thick, tender, moist, and delicious. I had to share with my husband ( it was so much). The Milanesa dinner was great, too. The breaded steak was large and took up the whole plate and then some. It was cut thicker than most places (nice and crispy on the outside, and fork tender on the inside). Both their salsas are excellent. You still get a free sopita while you wait for your food (if you come for lunch during the work week). The chicken enchiladas in mole poblano are excellent. The chicken tasted fresh. It was moist, tender, and seasoned well. They didn't go overboard with the cheese like a lot of places do. The steak tampiqueña was delicious, I got it medium, and it was cooked to perfection. It's a thick, tender, nice sized steak. Their beans and rice are pretty good too, chilaquiles are pretty good, especially if you like them crispy (they can sometimes go overboard on the cheese, though). They also have good coffee, flan and tres leches cake. The bathroom was roomy, clean, and had a changing table. The service was excellent. The prices have gone up, but they're still very reasonable considering the...

This review is LONG overdue.

The Mexico Steak House is a staple in the community. My family has been coming here since I can remember. 30, 40, maybe 100 years for all I know, literally forever. I remember visiting with my grandparents (Gerry & Murph) when they were alive, and being greeted with warm smiles and open arms. Since I moved out of Chicago, this is one of my top requests anytime I come back for a visit, and no one fights me on coming here.

The food always comes out fresh. ALWAYS. The servers are very attentive, and so friendly. I really can’t praise them enough.

What to order? Tacos are great, and their grande tostada. I’ve never had anything I didn’t like. My absolutely favorite is their Alambre (Steak skishkabob dinner). You guys, if you’re hungry, this will not disappoint!! Even if I’m not THAT hungry I’ll still get it, take 1/2 home heating it in the oven and it’s STILL amazing! Seriously, this is the best hands down.

I’m so grateful for the relationships our families have developed over the years. If you love good consistent food, and want to support local businesses, THIS is the business to support!!!

Thanks Mexico Steak House for...
