Burger King — Restaurant in Chicago

I sure hope, with this review and the past week or so of terrible reviews, that corporate gives this store the swift kick it needs to turn around.

I had ordered one of the Maple Bacon BBQ Whoppers online and used a promotional offer to get a Cheeseburger as well. When I arrived at the store, a team member informed me that the store was missing ingredients for the Maple Bacon BBQ Whopper and could not make the sandwich. Now I understand that it is a limited time/while supplies last type of thing, but every restaurant I have worked for, fast food or otherwise, has had some way to turn off ingredients when they’re out of stock in the POS system. This store failed to do so before I placed and paid for my order.

The team member asked what I would like as my substitution and I requested a Bacon King. As this team member was about to put in the new order and make things right, a shift supervisor stepped in and stated that because the Bacon King was more expensive, I could not substitute the Maple Bacon BBQ Whopper for a Bacon King. I offered to pay the overage, but the shift supervisor stated that because it was an online order, I could not pay the overage unless I had cash (I did not). Every restaurant I’ve worked at has had some form of an “Open Item” in the POS system to handle situations like this. This shift supervisor, through laziness or spite, failed to make things right. I caved and accepted the regular Whopper I did not want.

As for food quality, everything tasted fine for what it was, it just was not what I had ordered. The store however had lots of trash and dropped food on the floor and tables both in FoH and BoH. As a repeat customer since the reopening of this store after the fire in 2023, I can also state that the soda syrups are rarely stocked, the slush machines have never been stocked in my experience, and the trash/dropped food is a continuous issue. This store is due for a surprise audit and then some.

The only saving grace was the AI help center in the app which gave me a $10 voucher for the incorrect...

It feels very prejudiced, and as an older black person, I've never felt that way in a burger king. However, not only did I feel it, the young girl was so insistent that she was right that she wouldn't even listen to me. She let me talk, but she kept cutting me off telling me that I was wrong and I was trying to tell her that what she was saying was right, but not complete because she gave me only half of the first order. Then finally, after the manager kept me waiting, she let me talked but had already told the workers, in Spanish, to just give me the whole order again and forget it. Never assume people can't speak Spanish because they're not Mexican. The problem with that is that I can't eat mayo, which they put on my burgers, all 3 of them, even tho I requested no mayo. Had they read the order right, they would have got that. I'm hoping they can read English better than they seem. Forgive me if that sounds offensive but I have to mention that as a train for not getting both orders right. To be clear, they were mobile orders. Very disappointed!!! Are you guys charging extra for napkins? Cause I received non at all and if I needed to pay for some i would, especially since my soda was handed to me just as you see in the picture. Not only was my soda messed up but my meal was messed up as well if I tell you no onions no tomatoes it’s probably for a reason because I’m either I’m allergic or I really don’t like those two items so I don’t expect them to be in my nine dollar burger that I just paid for. I I think corporate needs to come down and have a customer service training class again also a how to prepare a soda and someone’s meal class again. This is where it gets me that workers in the food industry want a raise and get paid $15 an hour but sometimes don’t even perform at that pay rate I know waitresses that work 10 times harder and barely make four dollars an hour yet you serve me a burger that’s not correct hand me a soda that’s completely drenched and yet you feel entitled to get $15 an hour makes no sense pay a waiter or waitress more money who Actually ...
