I never knew about this park and only found it map searching Chicago. I always knew Ashland was a waterway originally, because its so damn straight for so long and wide. Plus lines with "Cathedrals" with organs that are impossible to reproduce today. If you look at Ashland Avenue, it was obviously a canal. Goes from here all the way to Wilmette Harbor. Its a great drive imagining what was destroyed as Chicago hides its real past. At least many of the symatic organ buildings remain, all repurposed as churches.
