This was my first time in Chicago and without a doubt, my last time eating at Ranalli’s Pizza Bar. The food was whatever, nothing special, but the real issue was the service. It was hands down the worst dining experience I’ve ever had. Our server, Zoey, greeted us when we sat down and told us she’d be taking care of us. After that, it was like we didn’t exist. We had to wave her down every single time we needed something water, to place our order, or just basic follow-up. She never once checked on us unless we went out of our way to get her attention. Meanwhile, we could clearly see her tending to other tables, walking around, and going outside. There was no excuse the restaurant wasn’t even busy. At one point, I asked about the difference between the side Caesar salad and the individual Caesar. Zoey told me the only difference was the portion, just the sides. So I ordered the side Caesar. What I got was a plain garden salad with Caesar dressing. When I brought it up, she changed her story and said there actually was a difference. I told her I wanted to switch to the individual Caesar, and instead of helping or correcting the issue, she slapped her thigh, looked visibly irritated, and walked off before I could even say anything else including asking for water again. At that point, I was completely frustrated. The way she acted made it feel like we weren’t welcome. Like we didn’t deserve the same basic respect or attention as everyone else. I’m not saying this lightly it genuinely felt like we were being discriminated against. The energy was dismissive, entitled, and disrespectful. To make things worse, she didn’t bring our food out, someone else did and after that, we didn’t see her for over 30 minutes. We sat at the table, eating, waiting, with no check, no to-go boxes, nothing. I finally had to ask another server for the bill. Zoey eventually walked up and said, “What’s up?” Like everything was fine. I told her straight up how we’d been ignored all night and that it felt intentional. Her response? “What do you want to do about it?” That was it for me. I didn’t care about the salad at that point even though it was still on the bill. We paid, didn’t ask for anything to be fixed, and left a 50-cent tip. Not because we didn’t have it but because that’s what her service was worth. Zero wouldn’t have made the point. Fifty cents did. This experience was frustrating, disrespectful, and embarrassing. If this is the kind of behavior Ranalli’s allows from their staff, I’ll never support this place again and I strongly encourage others to think twice before spending...
Read moreJust to start I have been going to Ranallis for over 8 years have had multiple parities there and I have spent tens of thousands of dollars there. This review is spefically for the hostesses and manger on 7/6/24. Today I have never been so disappointed, and disrespected in any restaurant experience as I was today. I went with my wife to Ranallis to watch the Colombia Panama game at 5pm. When we got to Ranallis there were 2 4 top tables outside on the aisle next to the TVs perfect for watching the game. When we asked to sit there they said those were for 4 people and they tried to put us at another table. We kept saying we just wanted to watch the game and the 2 person table they put us at was not in the view of the tv. I reiterated we wanted to watch the game and also the sound was on and we didn’t want to sit inside because music was on. They refused to sit us at the 4 person table so we could watch the game. Also just to add there were a lot of tables open at least 10. So we went inside, and started watching the game, about 30 minutes went by and the 2 4 top tables were still open. I went back out and asked can we sit here and stated no one had sat there for over 30 minutes they insisted that people were coming and we couldn’t sit there. So went back inside again. Then 5 min later they sat 2 groups of 2 people and I could see it from where we were sitting. 30 minutes went by and still 2 groups of 2 people sitting out on the 4 tops. I went back out again to say something and the manager stepped in and I explained the situation. He said that people were coming and I said no one else had come for 30 minutes he replied with an attitude “have you been timing them” I replied back no but they have 2 people a long while. He replied it’s just business and shrugged his shoulders. I felt so disrespected and went back to sit at the bar. We finished watching the game. At the conclusion of the game there were still 2 people sitting at both 4 top tables. As we walked out I said to the manger 2 people there there entire time. He did not say a word back to me. I’m so disappointed in Rananllis, and the lack of social awareness the hostess and manger showed. All we wanted to do was watch the game outside ( we had colombia jerseys on) with sound and the hostesses didn’t have the social awareness or any type of customer service to realize that. Furthermore the manger had such a bad attitude and was so disrespectful. As I stated before this was the worst restaurant experience I have had in a long time. So disappointed. DO BETTER RANALLIS, you lost a...
Read moreRanalli's is so great! I went for dinner and drinks on a Saturday evening. The place is huge! Its size allows it to be essentially two different establishments in one. Walking in the front door, you're met by a fun, energetic, upscale sports bar atmosphere, but the long building layout appeared to allow for a quieter experience in the back section located closer to the lake. Running the entire length of the building, they have one of the biggest outdoor patios I've seen in the city. I can wait until the weather warms, so I can go back and relax on their patio. The menu was very diverse with a ton of options. Sometimes I feel the term "bar food" reads as less than a compliment, but I will run the risk of saying that their "bar food" offerings were hands-down the best I've had in the city. Our party of four ordered 5 different items from the appetizer section of the menu and everything we had was top-notch! The Buffalo Chicken Egg-rolls make my mouth water just thinking about them and the chicken wings were absolutely perfect. The server even offered the option of having the wings done "naked" with the sauces on the side, allowing everyone in our party to enjoy them. The have a great cocktail menu and more than 10 craft beers on draft. Lastly, It was packed when we went and the service was above and beyond! Our server was so attentive, in an almost standing room only crowd, that there was never a moment where we were in need of anything. I am so impressed with Ranalli's! I will be...
