Chico Chai — Restaurant in Chico

I LOVE Chico Chai! This is where they make it. It's not really open to the public for the most part but once a month they do a tasting which I guess is spread by word of mouth and also on their website. They had delicious little cookies and exotic bites from "untamed" which was an excellent addition. The environment is unassuming and has a small industrial feel to it. There is an attempt at a somewhat presentable store front but you can tell it's not really what this space is for usually. It reminded me of having a birthday party in a converted classroom. The staff was both professional and knowledgeable about the various teas and you could tell she really enjoyed drinking tea like myself. She pointed out the tea tree in room and explained the spices and different types of teas and where they came from. I found it as interesting as my daughter found the cookie table. I first found out about Chico Chai at the SF tea festival which is held once a year in November. They had lots of nice teas at the festival. Chico Chai stood out to me for their Chocolate Chai. Their tasty chocolate tea has a very nice aroma when brewing and it tastes better then hot chocolate and a coffee mocha. With its lasting calmness it does good for my mood. This tea was paired at the SF tea festival with cane sugar and oat milk. I personally used regular milk and two packets of Splenda. Which made a very nice pairing. There's no other place in Chico like the Chaihouse vibe. It's a perfect place to go solo, study or to meet up with your family, friends or business meetings. The tea and food menu is inclusive to everyone and they offer locally sourced food! They have such delicious vegan options!!
