Farm Star pizza is supposed to be made with locally sourced ingredients. Pizza ingredients don't seem to reflect that focus. Salads could be, maybe. All pizzas are the same size, probably a large when compared with other pizza makers. The pricing is high. Over $30 for pizza. They serve a few varieties of beer, including local breweries like Farmers and Sierra Nevada.
The location is easy to find on the Esplanade next to Lazyboy furniture. They have a small parking lot but you can also park in the furniture store after hours and along the side street.
They sometimes have live music entertainment. When they do, it reduces their indoor seating.
Family friendly, sometimes closed for private events.
Last night, we selected the Hawaiian pizza. The service was great, and I waited about 15 minutes for a fresh pie. I was disappointed to see staff sweeping floors directly below the food prep area and carrying out mats from the same area. This seems unsanitary, and she should have waited until the kitchen was closed.
The pizza crust was very thin. The few toppings didn't want to stay on the crust. Pineapple was sparingly applied. This was not a $30 pizza.
With the cost of dining out, restaurants need to provide value for the dollar and a safe dining...
ย ย ย Read moreWhen Farm Star is "on" this is some of the best pizza I've ever had hands down! Great interesting toppings that pair really well, nice crispy crust with good flavor. Some of my favorite pies to order are nanny goat and pilgrim but really they are all great and you can't go wrong. Oh and the sweet heat salad is not to be missed either. They also often have a small selection of quality craft beers on draft.
Areas for improvement: Occasionally, he crust can be soggy in the middle of the pizza. I'm not sure if they are trying to pump out pizzas too fast but it would be great if they could bump up their quality control to prevent this. Its definitely more common on veggie heavy pizzas which give up a lot of liquid in the oven.
Lastly, over the past couple years they have been pushing hard to schedule music in the restaurant. I feel like this is a stretch and ends up decreasing the quality of the experience. The acoustics are terrible in the restaurant and it ends up being impossible to even walk through the restaurant as it is really not that big of a space. If they had a different layout perhaps it could be better but my advice would be to avoid the nights they have music unless that is really what you...
ย ย ย Read moreI went here with a family member after they highly recommended it. The pizza was good, we got a pizza with pepperoni, sausage, bell peppers, and red onions on it (I can't remember what it was called). However, the crust was not distributed well. The crust was very thin in the middle (about the thickness of a piece of pepperoni), so the slice was very floppy, but it had a regular sized crust. For me, it wasn't a huge deal, but it was a more little messy to eat than I'd like, trying to keep the pizza toppings from falling off the floppy crust. My favorite part was the ability to draw on the tables with chalk! I'm no artist, but it brings out my inner kid to draw random things. I loved being able to draw on the table with the fun colors! Overall, I'm going to "chalk" this up to an off pizza, as there was nothing wrong with it except the crust, and I'd love to...
