If you're looking for tasty authentic Thai food, there are much better options in Chico. I can't speak to the poke or sushi on offer, but the Thai food was very underwhelming and the Japanese Tempura was also not authentic which doesn't bode well for their other Japanese dishes. We ordered Pad Thai (the national dish of Thailand), Panang Curry and Tempura Vegetables & Shrimp. Pad Thai didn't have the authentic flavor and ingredients we expected; it had hardly any bean sprouts and a few pieces of very overcooked asparagus for some reason (I've never had asparagus in Pad Thai and I've ordered it many, many times from different restaurants); and the rice noodles were overdone. The Panang Curry was a bigger disappointment. The curry base was extremely salty, like to the point of being offputting and inedible. The Panang curry sauce was also watery/soupy without much coconut milk flavor, instead of creamy and rich with flavors. The Tempura was also not up to par. The shrimp had what seemed like more correct tempura batter with crispy texture, the veges were battered with something else that seemed like lots of cornstarch and was not as crispy. We suspect the shrimp was some premade, frozen food and the veges were prepared fresh but not with good tempura. It was also served with Thai sweet chili sauce instead of the traditional umami and sweet Japanese Tensuyu sauce which is always good. We ordered takeout and service seemed friendly. Sadly, the food was all wrong. I don't think it's impossible to offer a variety of cuisines in one restaurant, but it would surely be easier to be consistent if the menu was more focused. Maybe the sushi or poke are good, but skip the...
Read moreI ordered the Pad Thai. Taste was okay. There wasn’t a ton of flavor in it like I’m used to, and the chicken that was used for it was cut thick and over cooked. I asked to receive a medium spice level on the pad Thai, and they gave regular chili flakes instead of Thai Chile’s, which made me think that this was not authentically made.
I ordered the Lao sausage, and it was mediocre. It came a bit dry. When I asked for sticky rice, the employee had no idea as to what I was referring to, and five times, we had to go over what that rice was. When I received my order, she gave me sushi rice, which was very salty and had a strong vinegar taste.
This place is not authentic Thai food. It was very upsetting to order three different things and receive items that did not taste or even have a hint of...
Read moreThis place was amazing at everything up until 2/28 when they re-opened the kitchen with a new Chef.Specifically the Curry. The issue is reducing the size of portions by more than 3/4 while charging the same price and then when asked we were lied to about it being the same size in a different container. The new amount inside of its new packaging literally fits inside of the old portion container with room to spare. The Curry itself is still tasty, no longer has bamboo shoots and instead has lots of other veggies but much, MUCH less curry itself. Probably wont be eating there anymore, very disappointed in...
