Absolutely the worst restaurant in Chico. We came there on Friday night and all of our food came out at completely different times. My boyfriend waited for his main course for an entire hour. Our waitress was awful. She did not explain that some of the food was very spicy. I had to send my food back because I could not eat it. Their menu is confusing and it doesn't say what is a spicy or not, there is just a little chilly pepper that is small that you can barely see next to food items that are spicy I guess. We never saw our waitress after she dropped off water and took our order and gave us our appetizers. We had to beg for water and it was so hard to get someone's attention. This restaurant was being ran completely by children. There was not a single person over the age of 21 at that restaurant. What was so infuriating Was that a very young kid had passed by us as he was helping tables and we had told him what was going on, that the food was way too spicy that we needed some water that we would like to see our waitress, and we didn't know where she was but nothing happened. I even ordered a Boba and he came and told me that someone was working on it and then when we asked for our check after waiting for an entire hour and a half and still didn't get our main course we had received the bill and I asked him where my Boba was and he said did you put in an order for the Boba and I said yes I gave you the order and you even told me that someone was working on it right now! Something was extremely off about this kid. I asked him three times if we could talk to someone who spoke English or even where our waitress was because he just was not understanding whatsoever what it was we wanted. After me and my boyfriend working a long day, all we wanted was a nice dinner and unfortunately, it was a complete circus with the worst food that was too spicy to eat that no one had warned us about. Educate your customers on the menu and train your waitresses better. Even when I first ordered my food, and I was asking my waitress the one time I saw her questions. She got them all wrong, and the food was not what I thought it was because of the misinformation she me. Worst...
Read moreThis is one of my new favorite restaurants. I went there with a friend, and we ordered a hot pot, appetizer, boba tea, and rice.
First, the rice: this is one of the few places I've been to where they serve premium short grain rice and cook it to perfection. If you've never experienced this before, you will gain a new understanding of why sticky rice is so well loved in Southeast Asia.
We got a pair of lotus leaf wrapped rice cakes stuffed with pork and mushrooms, and they were phenomenal. First, I had not really expected that they would use a real lotus leaf (I don't even know where you would find one). However, each rice cake was wrapped in a 2-foot-wide actual lotus leaf that added a subtle grassy flavor and a very nice presentation. The sticky rice was nicely seasoned and a bit sweet, while the chinese-style sweet pork and seasoned mushrooms inside were very flavorful and delicious.
The hot pot was another great dish. The variety of ingredients was very satisfying. One of the nicest touches of the meal was the presentation of the rice noodles: they were often wrapped into little bows and tied around the middle with the noodles, themselves, making them easy to serve and providing a very nice texture and presentation. It was a very enjoyable addition that other restaurants wouldn't even think to do. We asked for "mild" bone broth, which turned out to be fairly spicy. As a spice lover, I enjoyed the heat, but not everyone does, so this should come with a "hotter than you might expect" warning for new diners. The broth was a bit on the plain side, and could have used more herbs and spices (onion, star anise, salt, etc.). It was still enjoyable, though, due to the variety of meats, vegetables, and mushrooms. This was also a lot of food. Two hungry men shared it and had leftovers.
The boba tea was good and contained pieces of real fruit and flavored tofu in addition to the usual tapioca balls.
If you haven't been here before, I highly recommend...
Read moreThis place is awesome. Got there at 8:30 pm (didn't realize they closed at 9pm). Not a single sigh, side-eye or rushed service from anyone.
Our server (I think his name was Jacob) was very friendly and knowledgeable, and all of the ladies helping him were great too. As 9pm rolled around and they began their closing routine (lights, registers, cleaning, etc.), not a single person made us feel hurried.
The food was excellent. Everything was cooked perfect, portion sizes are just right, and they need to give whoever is putting their flavors together a million dollar raise 🙌🏿💯. We had dinner, and we will definitely be going back to eat here.
My roommate had the shortribs and a chef salad. The chef's salad was huge, enough for two. The veggies were fresh and crisp, and cut up perfectly. About 6 good sized ribs, 2 large scoops of white rice, and macaroni salad (with tuna!?!), which he says was delicious. That's all he said, so I know his food was good 😆
For me, it was the Pork Dumpling with broth and the gravy fries. First, the fries: crinkle fries with some of the best gravy I've ever had. The dumplings are on a whole other level. Served hot in a bamboo steamer, they're perfectly cooked and filled with broth and pork. Definitely one of the best testing foods I've ever eaten, no lie. They're so damn good, seriously y'all gotta try them. Put a little of the chili oil on top and pop one in your mouth; I'm telling y'all life doesn't get much better than this😁
I highly recommend y'all check out the new Fortune Dumpling House. Food is amazing, service is awesome, and in a lady's back and fun atmosphere. What more could you ask for🙂 Let's make to keep this place around for many, meant years to come. I promise, you won't be...
