BOB’s is conveniently located less than a mile from the hotels situated near the interstate. Having driven all day, I was ready for a nice cold beer and our hotel receptionist recommended BOB’s. The online menu did not clearly define what was available for dinner. BOB’s had a lunch menu, a to-go menu, a pizza menu, and even a catering menu. But not a dining in menu. For this reason, I have attached photos of their provided menu. The website menu selection is just like the menu itself…too many options. We decided we would just show up for a beer and see what the menu looked like in person. Beer menu?
Arriving to what appeared as a new build location, we were greeted by a group of young grade school girls raising money for their Cheer team. This told me BOB’s supports their local community which is a good sign.
Inside was a very open design with a smaller, yet spacious bar area set apart from a large dining area. We were told to sit anywhere and we chose a booth and were promptly provided with menus.
Shortly after, we were greeted by a very friendly young server named Radie (Ray-Dee). Radie was professional, helpful, and clear spoken. We quickly placed our beer order and studied the vast, multi-page menu. With so many pages, it was difficult to decide what we even felt like eating. I decided on either a burger pizza would be my choice but leaned towards pizza. Unfortunately, Radie informed me they were out of pizza so that eliminated some of the options. I am not sure how one could be out of pizza’s but assured Radie it was okay and I would have the O’Brady burger with fries which I chose for the lower calories as most options exceeded my daily calorie intake. My bride ordered the steak garlic melt.
After a short while, Radie delivered our food with profound apologies that instead of the O’Brady, she accidentally ordered the OMG burger, which looked delicious. Before even setting the food down, she again apologized and offered to return with the burger I ordered. Letting her know we are not all make mistakes, I would gladly accept the OMG provided she only charged me for the $5.50 cheaper burger, which she accepted. Again, I had no issue with this as my bride knew I at least made the effort to eat a lower calorie meal. The burger was delicious!
The 2070 calorie burger, that meant I would be eating fish and lettuce the next day, was served with a generous portion of potatoey straight fries. I prefer thinner fries but even so, I felt half the fries would have been more than proficient. My bride ate less than 1/4 of her fries and she loved potato anything.
Our bill was delivered and we promptly paid in cash, along with a cash tip for our sweet server Radie. BOB’s is NOT somewhere you should eat at regularly if you desire to stay healthy. Yes, there are lower calorie options but the menu provided too many choices making it difficult for me to decide what to eat, which may have been one of my perceived negatives. The other, and more egregious, being running out of pizza.
The cheer team was still outside raising funds when we left and we were happy to contribute. BOB’s appears to be a popular sports bar that attracts young families as well as some gray haired folks like myself. Give them a try, ask to sit in Radie’s section, and if possible, try the pizza. Maybe they...
Read moreUPDATE.. the crowds have started thinning out, and so I stopped by yesterday evening to have a snack and a beer . They had a good selection of beers now, including two IPAs ! I enjoyed a voodoo Ranger hazy and boom boom shrimp at the bar . The service was great and everybody was really friendly. OLD REVUE... opened in our little town, but I don't think they were quite ready yet. Place was very brightly lit and was large and open like a barn, not a cozy feeling. Beer selection was pretty pitiful. Normally beefs has some good IPAs or other craft beers. On the menu they had Samuel Adam's and New Belgium (most likely "fat tire"), but they hadn't any in stock yet. Only bud lite, micelob ultra, and one other like that, I would have thought they would carry Corona in their lite beers....but no! The most popular beer in the US! The food looked good on the menu, but we didn't have anything to wash it down with. What a...
Read moreOrdered the Fish and chips and one of my pieces of fish was not cooked. Someone else's server noticed my wife had been trying to get our server's attention and she came to see if we needed anything. Our server finally came and asked about the issue with the fish. After my wife explained how I started gagging when I took a bite of the fish and the made her almost throw up, she stated the manager would be over to talk to us. That didn't happen. About 5 minutes later she brought us our bill and said they took off 10% for the bad fish. Our bill was $70.82 so we received a $2.34 discount listed as a hero discount. Very disappointed. Definitely don't recommend the...
