We've been to quite a few Ruth's Chris and have always enjoyed the atmosphere, wonderful service, and the food has always been delicious.
The food at Ruth's in Mt. Pleasant was spot on (food would get 5 stars). Hubby's and my steaks were cooked exactly as ordered. Lobster bisque, Caesar salad and the warm bread were great starters.
I ordered the filet medallions with shrimp and hubby ordered the larger filet. We also got a side of mushrooms, Brussel sprouts and the lobster mac and cheese....all very good.
Unfortunately they were out of bread pudding (odd because they open at 4 and that's when we had reservations and they didn't have any?) So we ordered the cheesecake (we were celebrating our 40th anniversary so our dessert was on the house, thank youš)
So why three stars (I'd prefer to give them 3.5 but that's not an option here)? They need more training for the staff. You may think I'm being picky but when I spend over $300 on a meal I expect the service to be above par.
First off our server, Kevin, did the job how I feel he was trained and maybe more practice for the staff will help (the restaurant has only been opened a month or so). Here's my list of suggestions - which we relayed to the manager:
As I said you may think I'm being overly picky but spending a good deal of money on dinner I believe I can expect excellent service with those extra touches to make the evening even more special....and enticing me to come back.
Will I return? Probably but it may be awhile so I can read other reviews to see how the service is...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreRuthās Chris Soaring Eagle is a nice addition to Mt. Pleasantās dining options. We arrived a bit early for our reservation, so we waited for our table at the bar, where we got an Old Fashioned and a Blueberry Mojito (pictured). The bar atmosphere was relaxed and visually pleasing (pictured).
There was the option of sparkling or still water, which is a nice offering for any dining experience in Michigan.
When we were seated, we immediately ordered the Crab Cakes, which were so delicious looking, we tore right into them without taking a photo š¤¦š»āāļø. They were consisting almost purely of crab meat with a flaky and yet soft consistency, and a mild, delicious flavor.
Next we tried the Lobster Bisque, which we tend to order as often as itās available on any menu. This was not my favorite bisque- the seafood flavor was lacking and what was left on my tastebuds was mostly reminiscent of cheese. My bowl didnāt have much lobster in it, although the second bowl had a few chunks. Not that it matters to anyone else other than myself, and for the purpose of me reminding myself, I would rate it a 5/10 (which was argued to be raised to a score of 6/10, but I stayed firm on my assessment.š¤Ŗ)
I ordered the Seared Ahi Tuna (pictured) from the appetizers menu as my main course. It was small, but the perfect size for me to not get overfilled, and the flavors were lovely. I appreciated the ginger and cilantro as well as the seared lemon half on the side.
Also ordered was the 11oz Filet Mignon (Oscar) with a Lobster Tail (pictured). The lobster was cooked to perfection; however, the steak was ordered cooked to medium, and we received it with a rare center. When we let the server know, she was very quick to bring it back and cook it more for us, and to our surprise, we were told that they would take it off the bill! They also provided us with complimentary cheesecakes for dessert (not pictured as they were given to us āto goā since we were full from the meal. We were very pleased with the service here.
We also ordered a side of Lobster Mac n Cheese to share (pictured), which was delicious, filled with lobster, and a large enough portion that we couldnāt finish it. We ended up taking it home along with the cheesecakes.
The ambience overall was pleasant, dimly lit (in a nice way),...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI hesitated in writing this review as it is out of the norm for me to do so, but the more I didn't, the more agitated I became. My GF and I were at the Soaring Eagle location on 8/14/2025 for a nice dinner and for her to experience Ruth's Chris for the 1st time. We had a reservation and were greeted and escorted to our booth by welcoming staff and our server was both kind and knowledgeable. We ordered the 26oz ribeye (med rare) to share along with the jumbo lobster tail and assorted sides. When the steak arrived it was "blue rare"...not even close to what was ordered. We didn't complain, simply asked our server to have the kitchen cook it to medium rare. This process took another 20 minutes for them to bring the steak back out (and it was the same piece of meat as expected). Once I started cutting into the steak, what I found was the toughest steak I think I have ever had. My hand hurt from the amount of pressure I had to put on the knife to saw through the meat. It wasn't that the steak appeared that grisly, just the texture of the meat was that tough. Not wanting to appear to be a "complainer" I just stopped eating the steak and had the server wrap it for take home. I paid the bill and tipped the server appropriately for her great service. At the front of the restaurant I spoke to the manager and explained our disappointing meal to him. The response I got was "That's unfortunate, we (the restaurant) pay too much for these pieces of meat to have that low quality. I hope you enjoy the rest of your night." Really? Not even a simple apology, not even acknowledgement for the price that we (the customer) paid for a steak I could have gotten at Ponderosa or Golden Corral. Not the end of the world, but the manager's response or lack thereof is what annoyed...
