5/15/2025 The service is SO much better here after 8:00am when the day time staff starts, and I assume the management or ownership. They get orders right and are efficient. They’ve even FINALLY added Apple Pay inside and in the drive-thru. The clumsy, forgetful older gent who works the midnight shift into the early AM is still working here, but at least he can do Apple Pay right and knows that it exists. My only problem with this place now is that the kitchen staff LOVES to and almost always has the back door open that leads into the kitchen. CLOSE THE BACK DOOR! You’re inviting rodents, roaches, pests and vermin into your restaurant.
12/11/2024 update: So I came back here last week and again this morning. Both times I order the same thing: carne asada burrito, add sour cream. BOTH times no sour cream inside. Only this second time I handed the drive thru guy a $20 and he gave me back a $5 bill and three quarters. Wtf? $14.25 for a $9 burrito + what… 90 cents for sour cream? Something isn’t adding up here. Shady drive thru guy isn’t talking to the cook and may be overcharging and pocketing cash. I’ve warned about this same guy in my previous reviews. I’m not coming back here anymore, but if you do, ask how much your order is and ask them to repeat your order before you hand over any money. The only thing going for this Roberto’s is the 24-hr drive thru (which hasn’t always been the case) and the decent burritos.
So between the employees not showing up for work sometimes (more than one occasion) at this 24hr place and the drive through guy who always forgets your order and ALWAYS, without skipping a beat, asks, “What did you order?” when you pull up to the window after the speaker, the food here is actually pretty good. Sometimes they don’t take credit card which is annoying and kind of sketchy. Also, join us in 2023 and accept Apple...
Read moreAs much as I enjoy the food here and have been a frequent customer at this location I think today is the day I will search for a new Taco Shop, especially since there are hundreds to choose from in SD.
My Grandmother and I came here for some grub and she was in the mood for a Machaca Torta. My grandmother being allergic to avocado asked the cashier (some girl) what was inside the Torta as she did not want any guac. The girl told her not to worry but the Machaca Torta didn't come with any guacamole. When our order was ready my grandmother asked if the cook could please cut the torta in half as it would be easier to eat. They do and my grandmother sits and takes her first bite. There was not only guac, but a huge amount of it.
She gets up and goes back to the counter and lets the cashier know and if she could get it replaced since she never asked for guac. The cashier made this disgusting UGLY annoyed face like if it was my grandmothers fault there was guacamole in her torta. She turns to the cook and updates the order.
Instead of being professional and doing this without any hassle the cook proceeds to bad mouth my grandmother as if she was the cook and made the torta, or as if she was the cashier who made the mistake and added extra guac. By the way he said everything loud enough for the whole restaurant to hear.
The new Torta arrived without guac but instead of Machaca he gives her Carne Asada. Why are all these incompetent people working here? Very disappointed. This cook needs to apologize and so does this cashier or better yet go get a job away from customer service as they have none...
Read moreI just want to warn any women who go to Roberto’s late at night. This happened to me twice now but the second time was worse. The two employees who work the late shift would not stop harassing me while I was waiting for my food. It was the cashier for the drive thru and the cook.
The cashier kept asking me personal questions about what I do, if I’m Mexican, if I go to school and if so where, etc. never once asked me how old I was btw. The cashier kept asking me if I was single and how could I not have a boyfriend as he thought I was “beautiful”.
He kept going to the cook and they were both talking about me, the cook was encouraging the cashier to talk to me more.
I was already annoyed by the both of them and was ready to defend myself in case they tried to do something. The cashier proceeded to constantly ask me if I wanted to get coffee with him down the street and I kept on having to repeat myself that I am not interested whatsoever. He desperately wanted to set up a date and he kept looking back at the cook but the cook just kept encouraging and nodding his head at him.
These men were probably in their 40’s or maybe late 30’s, absolute insanity. The cashier then grabbed a sticky note and pen and was asking for my number, again still never once asked how old I was keep that in mind. The cashier kept shoving the note and pen in my car, already invading my personal space, after I had told him very clearly NO.
Ladies BE CAREFUL, Roberto’s do better. I felt so disgusting after that encounter I couldn’t even trust the food they gave me, I felt sick...
