Sarai's Taco Shop — Restaurant in Chula Vista

This place has been hit or miss. I used to eat here all the time after class when my college was down the street. Went to it a few years back and just remembering the meat being extra salty the last 3 times i went. Havent been there since. Fast forward to today.... i was in the area and passed by, grabbed myself a mini carne asada burrito combo that came with fries....well.. the burrito had the weirdest taste almost like hamburger jack in the box meat but salty, first i thought maybe it was some kind cross cooking oil they used for their tortas... then i remembered... no torto has meat that tastes like a jumbo jack patty....i guess i probably happened to come during the wrong times when there was a...

We stayed at a next door hotel and decided to come here and get a take-out dinner. Staff was friendly and helpful. Seating is very limited. The food tasted great and the portions served were big at fair prices. Both green salsa and red salsa were good but my favorite was the green. Their to-go containers were styrofoam made, so we couldn't warmup the leftovers with the hotel provided microwaves. We ordered the Carne Asada Fries and Enchiladas. Their fries tasted much better and crisper than local fast food restaurants. I'll definitely come back again the next time I come...

Ordered tacos de papa. They were bland & unseasoned (kitchen, don't be scared of salt). Had a lot of lettuce & a spriiiinkle of yellow cheese, could've used some chops of tomato + onion to bring more flavor. The additional order of rice + beans....skip it. The beans are canned & taste dusty, not even seasoned or jazzed up. The hardshell taco was good, the lettuce fresh & the Spanish rice cooked perfectly. But overall not worth $14 bucks.
