The courses go by fast, it is easy to fall behind, get discouraged and quit. If you are not ready to put in your 100℅ of dedication, time, and effort, you will not make it. A lot of people do not even make it to their externship, that's a lot of money and time that you would give away for free. I absolutely appreciated the kindness and all the help from Mr.Shaka, Mrs. LaReina, Mrs.P, and Miss.Britt. They are all so sweet and willing to help you the best way that they can. Is Pima the best? Probably not. There are other options and places to get certified at. Most of the staff are dedicated and genuinely care about their student's success, but Pima as an Institute lacks organization and could use improvement in many areas. For being around 50 years? No comment. I am not saying to not attend and not to go for it, but be aware that they have faults and get informed as best you can before signing up for a program. I cannot comment for the other courses, but for the VA course, there's A LOT to shove into 6 or so months. I learned, but not efficiently. It also depends on what kind of student you are. That's something to think about and take into consideration. Externship placement could be improved. However, I know that it can be difficult to accommodate everyone to a suitable site based on their personality and knowledge. In general, if you're willing to stick through and complete a program that goes by extremely quickly, go for it. Do your research and really think about attending pima.

I’m genuinely impressed with PIMA Medical Institute Chula Vista, and I’m so glad I made the switch. The many reasons why I love this school are that the courses are directly connected to what we’ll experience in the medical field. Everything is relevant, which helps keep the learning process clear and organized. The instructors, Ms. Rosenfeld, Ms. Garza, Mr. Valencia, and Ms. Kelly (Surgical Technologist Program Staff), do an incredible job working together to ensure that the lesson plans are aligned with the textbook and the procedure we will be learning that week. That kind of coordination really helps the students understand the material from different angles, and it makes everything come together, especially during hands-on labs. Speaking of labs, the instructors hold us to a high standard, particularly when it comes to sterile technique, setting up the operating room, and anticipating the surgeon's next move throughout the surgery. It’s challenging, but it’s also the best way to learn. They make sure we understand just how important every detail is when it comes to patient safety and being a successful Surgical Technologist. Transferring from Southwestern Community College to PIMA was the best decision I’ve made for my education. It’s clear that this school is serious about preparing their students for the real world, and I feel confident about my future.

I'm a Surgical Technologist Graduate of Concord 2007 (Diploma). Was the manager of an ambulatory SPD for over 11 years. Took a hiates for a few years (mid life crisis and covid) then decided (a life decision)... I wanted back into the O.R. I missed the dynamic nature of being a SCRUB! However, I had lost my edge and made the decision to reinvest into the next career phase of my future. After careful examination of the Surgical Tech programs offered in San Diego County... I chose Pima - Chula Vista Surgical Tech Associate 18 month program. My education has surpassed personal expectations. From facility hygiene and on-site maintenance to front desk admin and councelors to financial aid to the Dean of S.T. and of course - the always available professors & teachers whom busy themselves between classes by answering random questions from wide eyed students. I arrive early - never miss a day - and study every day. I am NOT an A student. In fact I maintain a B average... it would be higher if I studied harder. Knowing this always gives me ambition to do better... till i pass the Certification test and re-enter the Operating Theater... as a Skilled and prepared SCRUB. Aeger Primo

In my honest opinion; you will never find a better school than PIMA! I went here in 2015 for the Medical Administration Program and then again in 2023 for the Medical Assistant Program; and I had a great experience both times. When it comes to PIMA it literally feels like you're joining a family that wants to help and support you, and not just another number that they are trying to fill. That feeling and experience honestly starts as soon as you walk in. The girls at the front desk are phenomenal, I love Ms. Deborah (My admin Coordinator). She is so good at connecting with you and has a gift for really guiding people in the right direction. Then Edna and Lorena will do all they can to help you financially be able to attend. I'm so thankful for their kindness and patience and willingness to help! Then the instructors are absolutely stupendous!!! Shout out to all my instructors Mrs. Wilder, Mrs B, Ms. C, and Mrs. K, and even the new instructor that came in later on Ms. A!! There is no words to describe the gratitude I feel towards these amazing group of women who always had each students back, were great at teaching the material, and who encouraged us each step of the way even when we didn't believe in ourselves. Then you have hidden gems like Mr. Vince or AKA (Fix it Felix)!! I don't know what he does I just know he does everything around here!! I was having a hard day, and Mr. Vince came up to me and asked how I was doing. I told him, but he replied " You can never have a bad day; you can only have bad moments and good moments, but never a bad day." Him telling me that helped out a lot and changed my perspective! I also want to thank Ms. Monique (The school Counselor); I had a road bump and had to leave, but she really helped me to get back in so I can complete the program. PIMA not only creates a family atmosphere, but they really equip you to be prepared for the field you want to go into. Although this journey was not easy, I really thank God for the experience I had at PIMA. I can truly say I'm leaving feeling confident in the skill set and knowledge I have learned at PIMA that will help me be successful...

Pima medical institute in Chula Vista changed my life for the better. I was lost in life and questioned what I really wanted to do. I had dropped out of college and was unsure of what I wanted. I always loved animals and always had in my mind that I wanted to help them out somehow. My friend was a former student that went to the dental assistant program and talked to me about pima and how it helped him succeed fast and efficient with his career. I decided to attend the veterinary assistant program. I successfully did my program and was quickly talked about for more growth opportunity in the field and that was to become a registered veterinary technician. I recently took my VTNe and passed. I am now as of today an RVT in emergency medicine and in general practice. I wanna say thank you to Ms. Karin Brewer. The director of the vet tech program. She really helped me throughout this journey. She taught me a lot and without her I could say that I would of not been able to pass that exam alone. She is so kind and is so knowledgeable of medicine. She really wants the future generation of students to succeed in the field and pass their test. I recommend to anyone that wants to do a career in veterinary medicine to look into pima medical institute. I also wanna say thank you to Doctor Gibson who was my professor for the vet tech program. He is a great teacher and always looks out for his students. I am so grateful that I had the chance to meet these wonderful people that helped me succeed and the school in general tries to help out the students as much...
