On August 12, 2018, I Steak n Eggar on 1174 W. Cermak. I visited this restaurant on a regular basis and never had a problem here until today. As I sat in the restaurant and order my food I asked for well done steaks and that is not what I received, the steak was raw with blood running out of it, poor customer services and as we were leaving the owner was sitting out side, he called us over and started pecking on his watch telling us we were in the restaurant eating over 30 minutes. If this was a place with a time limit everyone on the place should have been told the same thing. No one else was treated this way in the entire place. As we sat there and ate and watched people come and go he put a time limit on the only black couple in the establishment and that was us. I have never felt so humiliated in my life. This was a case of racial profiling and I refuse to let him get away with this. I am speaking out because this is the problem now racial division has moved all of the violence to the city. People are so stuck on skin tone and other hatred they forget about their own self dignity.
I will post this complaint to anyone who will listen no one should ever be disrespected where they are paying...
Read moreThis place is a classic spot for worker to lunch. Including private and public servants. It is what it is. Coffee, eggs, steaks, some soups. It is good.? Yes. Needs improvement.? Yes. The building is small. The parking lot is too big. So if you see full lot, you have to move on, no table available. It’s crowded easily. Waitresses were distant to take orders. It took more than fifteen minutes to be served. Flavor.? Meh, standard. Place Needs clean up and improve sanitation. Specially after COVID. Doors were melting of grease when you touch it. Salt, pepper, ketchup and all bottles and stuff on the table, were dirty too. The place runs in auto pilot. It seems like no interest in the details. Managers?...
Read moreNot many places left like this in the modern urban environment. It's cheap, it's fast I both service and preparation, and it feels like home. The food was cooked well, and you can find just about anything you could want at a standard breakfast spot. I had French toast and added hash browns and a slice of ham steak (which was the biggest and tastiest ham steak I've ever had in my life, no lie). My wife and kid came with me and their meals were also really good. If you like something classic and easy on your wallet you have to come by and check it out for sure. Also, they're open 24 hours so if you're in the mood for food at any time this place has...
