Assuming you know that Graeter's Ice Cream is fantastic, I stumbled into the shop at Edwards Rd and Erie Ave at the Hyde Park Square fountain for a fix and found that this location is particularly cool. Sort of a "throw back" vibe of an ice cream shop, a very vibrant old world, old fashioned feel. Lot's to look at, very pleasing light, enough tables to linger and enjoy your treat. Even if you have to park a ways it's a fun neighborhood to walk around in. In a world of bare bones staff there was a plethora of workers ready to help us and then dish up our chosen treat. I usually try to get names but a guy and at least three or more girls were all pleasant and working as a team and there were more in the back. Since I didn't get any names I will mention it was Saturday August 23rd early evening. One staff was being trained i believe and yet she was pleasant and helpful and got assistance when checking on something I asked and all were delightful. Be sure to look around the store and eye all the tempting treats that abound, and enjoy your ice cream / sundae / shake...
Read moreI was excited about trying Graeter's ice cream while I was on a work trip in Cincinnati. We ordered a chocolate covered strawberry milkshake, double chocolate chip cone, buckeye blitz chocolate chip cone and a black raspberry chocolate chip cone. Everything was fantastic. My favorite was their signature flavor that is their best seller and is nationally recognized, the black raspberry chocolate chip. I've never tasted anything like it. The chocolate pieces in it were huge but they also had a softer, creamy texture. I loved it because the chocolate pieces in ice cream are usually hard and disruptive to the texture of the ice cream. They also had a lot of other goodies throughout the shop that were intriguing, like gourmet topping jars, an assortment of candies, cookies, black raspberry scented candles and even a Sundae Bar in a box kit. The staff was courteous, helpful and very fast with getting the orders out. It's located in a lovely neighborhood. We took a stroll while we enjoyed...
Read moreI was angry with Graeter’s because of the poor customer service I received with an order for candy I placed over the web. They never shipped my mother’s delicious pecan patties at Christmas and the lady at their corporate office acted like she was doing me a favor to “reshio it” even though they never provided UPS tracking and it was never sent. Some remedial coaching for her is in order.
Wrecking Christmas for my mother aside, how can you remain angry at the best ice cream maker in the world? How can you argue with 150 years of experience ? The people at this location are kind and attentive and this place is always busy. Kathy is a little strict, but has a kind heart. It is always a pleasure to visit here, and you cannot find better ice cream anywhere in the world. Seriously. I am still a little angry at them, so I would take pleasure in telling you that the ice cream sucks; it is the best...
