I love escape rooms and have done many in the area and around the US and sadly I don’t think Breakout Games in Hyde Park is worth the money or consideration. Sadly the rooms are a bit boring, poorly assembled, ugly set dressing and just under developed all together. The puzzles are disjointed, needlessly complicated, convoluted, math heavy and at worst very janky and broken. We have done 3 rooms from this location. The Haunted Mansion, The Kidnapping and the Submarine one. Maybe these are the worse ones in the bunch but golly were they bad. Some of these rooms had immediate game breaking errors like faded written clues that made it impossible to progress. So that the game master had to halt progression and awkwardly spoon feed us direct answers in order to get passed clues, all the while accumulating time on the clock. Another weird moment was during the kidnapping we were blindfolded and handcuffed. Which was mysterious and interesting expect for the fact that it didn’t amount to anything. After the introduction video we could take our blind folds off and the key for the handcuffs was just sitting there. Like why did we even do that then? There was no stakes or reason to be handcuffed and guided into the room. It just made no sense to our group. During our latest visit there was a total failure of technology during the last clue of the session and they had to pause the game and intervene. Sending in the game master and then the manger to try to resolve the issue after much trial and resets. And then finally they just giving us a print out of the answer to try to solve. It was so embarrassing. I regret not asking for some sort of refund. Obviously I understand technology is unpredictable but with the previous mishaps in mind I feel justified in proclaiming these guys are just in over their heads. They don’t seem to know what they’re doing really which is kinda sad and cringe. The price for 2/3 people is $130 minimum with tax and you could get a whole lot better somewhere else. If you want a rinky-dink time in Hyde park, this is your stop but otherwise I suggest The Escape Game downtown Cincinnati for an all around...

This description is irrelevant to the stars, just issues we had. SPOILERS.

We did the submarine room and had many problems. One of the puzzles you have to cut zipties with nail clippers which is a problem because first, you never ever destroy the set and second, nail clippers are not meant to cut zip ties so combined this step is bogus. We had to use the vents for a step but the vents had "do not remove signs" plus we not well attached to the wall so we thought if it was meant to be used it would have been kept better then when we did get the hint and tried to use the bolts for the puzzle they were super loose and the sharpie on them was hard to read to match to the puzzle. The fuse steps were cool but they were a bit janky to get to work and the math to get there took too long. Room is supposed to be a submarine but is half museum. We still do not know how the bilge pump is supposed to work. The 30 second increments for the GPS was weird and annoying though we were guessing because we could not get the heat+stone puzzle, did not know it was supposed to get a grid. Room was dark so did not really see but the lobby was very poorly painted which should not happen at a place where attention to detail is key. Too many problems too be as...

I recently had the pleasure of participating in a breakout game led by Maddie , and it was an absolutely fantastic experience! From the moment we entered the room, Maddie set the tone with their enthusiastic and engaging demeanor. The puzzles were brilliantly crafted, offering just the right level of challenge to keep everyone on their toes while ensuring it was still an enjoyable experience for all skill levels.

Maddies attention to detail and ability to seamlessly guide us when we needed a hint made the game flow perfectly. Their passion for the game was evident and infectious, adding an extra layer of excitement to the entire experience. They were not only a skilled game master but also a wonderful host who made sure everyone felt included and part of the adventure.

The creativity and thought put into the storyline and the puzzles were impressive, making this one of the best breakout games I’ve ever played. I highly recommend Maddie to anyone looking for a memorable and exhilarating breakout game experience. They truly are a master of...

I've always wanted to do an escape room! My boss mentioned this as an engagement outing and I was all for it. The pricing is reasonable. $25.00 a person. You can have up to 8 people Max per room. They have 5 rooms you can choose from and you can book ahead. Our team chose The bomb room and The Kidnapping. Before you do the games, you must sign a waiver. You have a time limit... one hour to get out. We had 7 in our team. Jake was a guide and he was awesome! He gave us some tips on the intercom if necessary and was fun to work with. This was not an easy task. You really had to think outside of the box. This was definitely a team effort to get out. You had to solve riddles and had mathematical skills. You are not allowed to use the phones for photographing or filming, but you are able to use it for lighting and calculations. We got out in the nick of time. We were down to almost a minute. So excited and happy for our team! Victory! I would do this again! It was so much fun!

Our game tender, Erica (human, not human shaped chicken tender), did a wonderful job, gave excellent hints, didn’t let a wondering raccoon distract her from her introduction briefing. However, she had a dog (Milo I believe), that clearly wanted pet, but she said we weren’t allowed to touch him since we was working. Meanwhile I get touched all the time when I’m working, so that’s where the -1 star came from, but other than that is an excellent employee and she deserves to throw a pie in her boss’s face close-range come the next monthly winnings.

I was joined by 18 of my family members and we split into 3 rooms with staggered start times. We did the kidnapper room, bomb squad and the runway train. The staff was efficient and organized when helping us get started. While trying to escape each guide of the room was kind, patient and helpful while still providing a challenge when we became stumped on a clue. Don’t forget cash to tip your rooms guide they really do such a fantastic job!! Thank you for the endless memories!! All 3 teams escaped with time to spare.
