I'm going to give this restaurant five stars because there wasn't anything that I didn't like about it. The restaurant was clean, the staff was friendly , we did not wait long to be seated , and the prices were comparable to other Mexican restaurants nearby. What made this restaurant stand apart for me was the food quality. I really enjoyed the food a lot. I ordered a house special which was chicken, queso cheese, and rice. The chicken was very tender, the rice was flavorful, and the queso cheese was creamy and slightly spicy. They do bring out free chips and salsa to snack on while you're waiting for your food. I must say the chips and salsa where the best chips and salsa I have taste it, and I frequent many Mexican restaurants. Perfect! The portions were good, I felt full after I ate my whole plate. The prices were the same as other Mexican restaurants in the area. For dinner be prepared to spend 9$ to $14 per plate. I noticed they do have lunch specials on their menu for lunch time, which are less expensive. If you have children they do offer a children's menu. My friend's child did not want anyting on the child's menu, and the waiter was very friendly and he actually made accommodations to get my friend's child a smaller portion of what she wanted. So extra points for that, because we all know children can be picky. The environment was laid-back, wasn't too crowded. Not overly fancy , but nice and casual. They do serve alcohol here, I'm interested in coming back to try...
Read moreI've already reviewed Veracruz previously RIGHT after I ate their food for the first time a while ago. This review comes after they've been here in Price Hill for a while and I've eaten there a few more times. This isn't a honeymoon restaurant review. Veracruz is seriously the best Mexican food I've had from a restaurant in Cincinnati. I really like places down in OTR like Gomez, but you can't beat Veracruz. They've got a robust menu (mussels! Menudo! Salad! Jamaica! Très Leches!) and their wait staff is very attentive and knowledgeable about their food. The portion sizes are also pretty sizeable! Their tacos are ~6" in diameter, so average for street tacos, but ALL of the fillings are winners. They make their corn tortillas in-house and fresh everyday, and the results are the best tacos, nachos, and fajitas this side of 75! You can also order alcohol to go, so their margaritas can be enjoyed on your own porch! The interior has been redone and their bar area inside has a comfortable but open atmosphere if you decide to have a few cocktails or cervesas or maybe a margarita or two. Their outdoor seating area is very clean and refreshing! The ground is covered in poured concrete so you don't have to worry about mud after rain! They have string lights overhead as well, adding to a nice outdoor dinner. I highly recommend you give Veracruz a try if you're looking for something flavorful and enjoyable in...
Read moreThis is a very nice place run by nice people and we've enjoyed eating in and getting delivery/carry out many times. I have to say though that our normal 5 star review is down to a 4, because orders keep being wrong. The last couple of times we ate in, substituations we requested didn't happen and we had to have our waiter fix the problem. Now, it is happening with delivery/pick up orders. We ordered twice this week, and on the first order both of our orders were wrong - requested substitutions had been ignored - and on the second order one of our orders was wrong - requested substitutions had been ignored. Often, substituations are requested due to health reasons from allergies to diabetes and everything in between, so it's important for a restaurant to pay attention to requested substitutions. If any other restaurant did this so many times in a row, I'd give them a 2 or 3 star rating, but I only lowered my rating to a 4 star because overall we like this restaurant and the people who work there. I do think, for the time being any way, that it's probably best to pick up orders and check them before leaving the restaurant to make sure...
