The sushi was delicious. Overall the owner was rude and argumentative when my partner and I decided we no longer wanted the entrees we ordered. Mind you, the order never came to our table. We politely asked our server to cancel the entrees and we would another round of the $5 sushi rolls. The server came back to our table to tell us “ if you would have said something five minutes ago I could’ve stopped the order, unfortunately I cannot”. I asked him if he could please just cancel it because we no longer wanted the entrees. He then proceeded to talk to the owner of the restaurant. The owner was standing behind the sushi table the whole time. He came up to our table and told us he could not cancel the order because “it wasn’t fair”. He continued to be extremely rude and argumentative at our table. Continuing to guilt trip us and using meaningless analogies to make us sympathize for his small business. Continued to yell, that he’s risking his lives and his employees life just for being open. I calmly stated that it would be unfair for us to pay for a meal that A. Never came to our table or left the kitchen and B. Had no desire to eat or take home (as he suggested). After 5 mins of going back and forth and not backing down the owner threatened me and my partner by saying “I’m going to call the police”. Keep in mind, we were going to pay regardless; we just didn’t not want the entrees. We told him “ go ahead and call the police”. He was surprised by that reaction. He made a big fuss and was extremely disrespectful and certainly obtuse to the current political state America is in right now. Ahi Asian bistro has no regulars for its customers and absolutely disregarded two black people trying to eat sushi. Also, we were the only customers in the establishment at the time. Previously, there were two customers when we got there and they had no problem. Why couldn’t we be treated with the...
Read moreThis was not today, but it is the last time I ate here. I found myself in North Dale Mabry, and was struggling to find a place with good reviews to eat at 4.5 stars, and up. Saw this place, but they weren't opening for about 30 mins. It was 10 minutes away, so I drove, and waited 20 minutes for them to open. I was one of the first customers, and it seemed like they're was some kind of problem. Kitchen is yelling at the manager, manager at the kitchen. Seems like they had stuff, but it wasn't prepped before opening. I had to wait a long time for my food. Manager said it's because they just opened, and the fire wasn't hot yet, or something like that. I'm, but I'm being patient, and passing time looking at the reviews, and pictures. I get my food, and the teriyaki sauce on my fish is burnt making everything bitter. They rest of the food is mediocre, and forgettable. The best part of it was the salad dressing. The manager did offer to have them remake it, but since most of it was bland, and I had a long drive to make I declined. He said when I was ready to pay he would take care of me. Taking care of me was giving me 10% off my bill. That was an insult considering I had no alcohol, one soda, and simple bento box. The waitress was okay, and little annoying, but I'd rather be checking on too frequently, than not enough. I tipped her cash for 50% of what the bill was. I think I tipped on the card also just to negate his insult...
Read moreI wasn’t a big fan of the flavor in the eggplant dish, but the other dish (Duck in Coconut Red Curry) was great. We didn’t order sushi, so I can’t speak to that aspect. Initially, I was impressed at how friendly and kind the waiter was. He was really thorough explaining the menus. However, he then messed up our order and one dish was completely forgotten. I guess there was confusion when I gave the order for everyone. They placed the order after we noticed the error and it was out relatively quickly, but still. I was done with my dish and left waiting for the others to finish theirs since their dish came out late. Our waters were also left empty for quite a bit of time before he noticed and asked to refill.
However, my biggest complaint is the staff not limiting a clearly very intoxicated person from drinking more. They arrived drunk and were still served more. They were obnoxiously loud in such a small restaurant and yelling profanities left and right loudly. It was blatantly obvious she was drunk and spilled her drink multiple times and broke a glass. I couldn’t even hear the conversation at my own table over her. But I sure as heck can tell you her entire life story from her college days down to her parents marital problems. Your staff needs to be better trained to handle situations like these. God forbid she drives home like that. I couldn’t wait to get out of there for some peace and quiet. It’s a...
