Gong Cha Tampa — Restaurant in Citrus Park

So happy they finally opened a Gong Cha in Tampa! The sizes are really big so the price is decent and the milk tea flavor is great. My only complaint is that I got 70% sugar and the drink wasn’t really sweet, but once they’ve been open for longer I’m hoping they’ll get more consistent with the ratios. The staff is very friendly as well. Definitely try this place out!

Edit to add: I used to get Gong Cha all the time in NY and I would always get 70% sweet. It was always very sweet at that level but when I ordered here it was very bitter so I don’t think the right amount of sweetener was added for the drink. They also started charging for no ice which is really annoying since I hate watered down drinks but also it’s really not worth paying extra for no ice. 30% ice for free is an ok option...

I have been to other Gong Cha locations, but it's a first at the Tampa location. Normally, they would ask you on the sweetness and ice levels, but our cashier apparently forgot. My drink was fine with 100% sugar and ice, but my boyfriend who doesn't like that much ice and sweetness was overwhelmed with ice and sugar. Had the cashier prompted him with the level of sugar and ice, he would have known to say 50%, since he is not familiar with Gong Cha's ordering method. Ordered a fish cake and 2 fish balls today. After 20 mins of waiting I went back to the cashier to confirm my orders and the cashier said it is being made ( it's not supposed to take this long for a fish cake and 2 fish balls). After 15 mins he went back to me and said they're out of fish balls and fish cakes and gave me back $9 out of $15 that I paid earlier ( which is okay cause I know there's a mistake).
