A Masterclass in Bad Customer Service – Starbucks at 9222 Anderson Rd
If you’re looking for a prime example of how not to treat a customer, look no further than the Starbucks at 9222 Anderson Road. I pulled into the drive-through expecting a routine coffee run—nothing extravagant, just a quick decision between three or four pumps of white mocha. Apparently, such contemplation is unacceptable at this location.
The moment I hesitated, the voice over the intercom snapped at me, making it clear that I should only speak once my entire order was ready. Excuse me? Since when is it against Starbucks protocol to take a moment to consider your order? The tone was sharp, condescending, and laced with impatience—completely out of line for a customer service role.
Still, I proceeded. Maybe they were having a bad day. Maybe it was a fluke.
Spoiler: It wasn’t.
When I pulled up to the window, I was met with the same lack of basic human decency. No greeting, no warmth—just more attitude. But here’s where it gets really absurd. The employee at the window (who, shockingly, was the supervisor) had the audacity to ask about a tip. After the way I was just spoken to? I calmly explained that I wouldn’t be tipping because the person taking my order was outright rude. Instead of an apology or an attempt at damage control, I was met with a sarcastic, patronizing response:
“Awww, I’m sorry. I hope you have a better day.”
The tone? Dripping with fake concern. The delivery? Downright smug.
At this point, I could have just driven off and never returned—but I believe in giving people the opportunity to make things right. So, I circled back, hoping to have a reasonable conversation about the treatment I had just received.
That hope was wildly misplaced.
Upon my return, I was met by the same supervisor and another employee who, instead of addressing my concerns professionally, proceeded to grill me and scold me simultaneously—like I was the one in the wrong for expecting decent customer service.
Atrocious.
Between the dismissive attitudes, the unwarranted condescension, and the absolute failure in basic hospitality, this Starbucks location is an embarrassment to the brand. And let’s not even talk about the drink—because after all of that, my overpriced, mediocre beverage didn’t even taste right.
Final verdict? Zero for customer service. Zero for the drink. Zero chance you and your family should visit.
If you enjoy being disrespected before you’ve had your caffeine fix, by all means, stop by. Otherwise, save your money—and...
Read moreLatte ok and good service. The crumb cake has changed. The crumb is not as crumbly. It is more sort of mashed down. I have ordered the crumb cake many times, but I will not again. The remodel is sleek and modern. But there is limited seating and it is too brightly lit. Lots of tile, which made the overly loud music at 5:15 am even worse. My headphones with Spotify did not come near to drowning it out. This and other locations could benefit from noise abatement - some softer surfaces to dampen the echo of noise on tile and wood. This and other locations are no longer viable third spaces to meet, talk, or work in a laptop for a bit. I think that may be intentional. I spent only about 45 min there, when I planned on closer to double that. Oh, and the ship has long ago sailed on cups/pitchers of water and cream/milk out in containers. As of late you even have to ask for sweetener packets. It is sort of scorched earth. I need somewhere to work on things as early as 4:30 am to about 7:30 am. I am in a quest for the least offensive Starbucks location. This one is not it. Honestly, 3 Coins Diner on Nebraska and using my mobile data for a hotspot is looking like a more viable option than any of the many Starbucks in the area - to work a couple hours...
Read moreNever had a problem at this store till today. Ordered a coffee with no cream and a iced soy latte. Soy latte was curddled like crazy. I understand soy milk does this (was a partner for five years) but seriously, it was like a half cup of tofu looking chunks. They shouldnt have ever served that through the window. Im not one to complain, but this wasnt my drink, and hell, we even tipped, so i went back and asked them to remake it. After having the lady tell me that it is completley normal for soy to look like that, and me explaining i worked there for years, they remade it with new soy. All good untill im on my way home, take a sip of my regular coffee, only to have it end up on my lap. Having hot coffee all over me isnt what pissed me off... It was when i noticed that you put cream in my coffee. Like you really even messed up a black coffee. I understand you guys are working on easter and it sucks. But you can still put your all in and give out some half way decent service. You guys had 4-6 partners working. Cant believe im saying this, but i will just go to the target starbucks...
