I called six hotels in Tampa several months ago with questions regarding transportation/shuttle services from airport, distance to Tampa cruise port, amenities, etc. After explaining that 3 rooms would be needed for a one night stay in February before going on a cruise, this property was the only one that was friendly and that gave me all of the information I needed before I even asked. Starr was the person I talked to when making the reservation, and she was wonderful, very informative and helpful! She let me know that there was a free airport shuttle when we arrived at the airport and we could also make arrangements for transport to the pier and from the pier to the airport when our cruise was done. A week before we flew to Tampa, our weather was questionable on the day of our flight due to a snow storm that was predicted. I called the hotel and talked to Dylan and he confirmed for me that our rooms would be held and that I could call the morning of the flight to let him know if our flight was cancelled due to the weather. Dylan was another staff member that was very nice and reassuring. Our flight was not cancelled and upon arrival to the hotel, we were greeted by Calvin. He got all of us checked in and was very helpful in providing us with transportation to a local restaurant for our evening meal. Our rooms were very clean and comfortable and we all had a great night's rest before starting our cruise the next day. Unfortunately we did not get to meet Starr or Dylan, but these 2 wonderful people along with Calvin were very helpful in making our cruise vacation a very enjoyable and unforgettable experience. If anyone is looking for wonderful and caring staff and a good night's sleep, this property is the place you need to stay. If we are in Tampa again, we will definitely stay...
Read moreThe two ladies working the front desk on 04/25/2023 at around 6:30 p.m. (one white or Hispanic and the other black) were EXTREMELY disrespectful and nasty for no reason. I had just came over from a building next door from work and was waiting in the lobby for my mother who was visiting and coming from the airport to stay at this hotel (despite me telling her the rooms at this place are kinda nasty anyways). I sat in a chair in the lobby for not even 20 minutes, quiet and not bothering anyone mind you, and was told I need to leave. They didn’t even let me finish my sentence so I could tell them my mother planned on staying there shortly. All I was able to say is that I have my mother arriving in 5 minutes and they cut me off and urged me to go outside and wait for her without hearing me out and at the same time losing a potential customer. Keep in mind they were not directed to kick me out and I was only told that “someone might say something soon” about me sitting because I had been “sitting there too long” so this was completely a choice of their own to kick me out and be mean and nasty and not directed to do so by management at all. It was very nasty of them and they treated me and talked to me as if I was less than when I actually had my mother ready to stay there in just a matter of minutes for a room I would be mostly paying for. It was rude and embarrassing but I’m glad it happened before me and my mother spent our money at this God awful hotel. Train employees better and teach them how to speak and treat people better and nicer and listen before being so quick to cut people off so they don’t lose more potential customers. Also while I was waiting these lady were cussing and discussing their sexual escapades loudly with one another at the front desk. Completely...
Read moreEDITED : this shows the integrity of the owner. The sheriff did not trespass me. No paper work was filed and I was the one who ultimately called the police because the general manager threatened to hold my deposit because of “my behavior”. The sheriff showed up after I called. Not the manager pretending to be on the phone. However, once the deputy arrived she released my funds. I was also refunded from Choice Hotels. It worked out in my favor, Marriot is a better property. Cleaner and the staff is nicer.
If you look at the other reviews it states the same about the owner and manager. Again this all happen during a natural disaster. Hotels deal with behavior all the time. Nothing was destroyed. Their feelings were just hurt. I would take precaution when staying here. Business owners going back and forth with customers says a lot.
During Hurricane Ian,
I decided to stay at this property due to no power. As I was checking in the staff was very rude even after explaining I was far from home. However, due to being far from home and having no power. I decided to stay. The general manager was rude, the owner was rude. The “owner” even shot a bird. The general manager threaten to call the sheriff and to keep my deposit. Sheriff came and everything worked in my favor. The sheriff even said front desk should show some compassion.
I filed a formal complaint and was reimbursed for my stay however. I would proceed with caution when booking here. The only people who were pleasant were the breakfast staff and housekeeping. It takes nothing to be nice during a natural event.
