I've only been there 2 times and plan on going back. It's close to where I live so that's convenient. The people there seem to be friendly and pretty nice across the board so far. The bar staff seem to be attentive and hard-working. The owner seems very involved in the everyday processes that go on which I enjoy because the place generally runs better with an owner that enjoys his business. Now I've only eaten one thing from the kitchen, and that was a Reuben. I thought it was okay nothing to write home about. I did attempt to order a Cuban one day and they were apparently out of pork because they make their own pork for their sandwiches. There is certainly a high demand for good Cubans in the Tampa Bay Region. I hope that it's really good considering that they make their own pork it should be and if they press it. Other than that the drinks seem to be pretty reasonably priced. There are other things to do in the bar such as play pool music and whatnot. I do like that they keep the music off when the Buccaneers games are on, and every time the Bucs score the owner walks around with a bell ringing it. I think I found myself a bar that I'm comfortable in and people are around my age. They don't seem to bring it in a young crowd which makes me more comfortable and I of course don't like hearing that garbage rap music that's out these days so that's another big plus for me. Maybe I'll write a review later down the line but like I said I've only been...
Read moreWe’ve lived just down the street from and driven by The Longbar almost daily for over 20 years and had never stopped in until just a few weeks ago. Since then, we’ve been back several times. From our first visit, the staff/owners introduced themselves, remembered our names, and even remembered our orders. They, along with the other patrons were very friendly. Our food orders have been prepared exactly the way we would prepare them ourselves, which of course means that they were made perfectly! The clientele is mostly mature and everybody knows and greets everybody. They have a few $1 coin operated billiard tables. The house pool cues are a bit worn but work OK for a friendly game. They DO allow smoking inside which can be a pro or a con depending on your position. The cigarette smell is thick, but they have numerous ceiling filtration systems installed which seems to help with the actual smoke. Even though we’re not smokers, we enjoy our new-found local watering hole and will continue to visit regularly. This place reminds us somewhat of ‘Cheers’ – “Making your way in the world today takes everything you've got. Taking a break from all your worries, sure would help a lot. Wouldn't you like to get away? Sometimes you want to go - where everybody knows your name, and they're always glad you came. You wanna be where you can see, our troubles are all the same. You wanna be where everybody...
Read moreThe food here is so good, I can't even explain it. How a long standing, successful local neighborhood bar and grill could hire and retain excellent cooks with a passion for great bar food is amazing. APRIL 2024 UPDATE: THIS PLACE IS AMAZING. KIND OF LIKE CHEERS. EVERYTHING'S KNOWS YOUR NAME. Ther service and cooks are fantastic. ALL THE FOOD IS EXCELLENT AND THE DRINKS ARE, TOO. All the sandwiches, Salads, Wraps, burgers, appetizers and sides are fresh and delicious. Also, their smoked chicken wings and juicy, large chicken tenders are wonderful with many flavors from which to choose. Along with their truly, "long bar," they have high tops, additional bar seating, pool tables, a more quiet side, louder sporty side, outdoor seating for smokers and lots of TV's. Ms. Daisy & Mr. Francis are fantastic owners who work their grill & bar 7 days a week, along with their truly talented and friendly staff, serving up ice cold beer, sodas, tea and cocktails, 7 days/week/open at 11:00 am for lunch and open all day long until late. Their pizzas are phenomenal. Large parking lot with good lighting. Located behind the large...
