We stopped here for brunch today and it seemed nice. We're from out of town and read the reviews before settling on this restaurant. We ordered the winter salmon salad and the royal crepe. The salad had some kind of all-spice/cinnamon/butter crumbles that seemed to be trying to compliment the salmon, but ended up being reminiscent of liverwurst. Avoiding the crumbles was annoying, but otherwise the salad was good. The royal crepe on the other hand was the worst thing I've ever purchased at a restaurant. The kitchen forgot the egg it came with, so the waitress brought that out to me after a few minutes. The egg had a weird metallic taste that I couldn't explain, and the chicken in my crepe was so dry that I couldn't swallow it without choking. I ate around it, and the Swiss cheese, mushrooms, and crepe itself were alright. I just can't get past how terrible the chicken was. It reminded me of week-old chicken that had been left in the fridge to dry out. Then microwaved to ensure all of the moisture is evaporated, and the meat is left rock hard, stringy, and dry as a bone. Beyond the food, the atmosphere of the restaurant was pleasant and the waitress was very nice, but ultimately we left quite disappointed.
We live out of the area and I'm not sorry that we won't...
Read moreI found myself on Main Street in Cortland, NY. For complex reasons, though I live in Syracuse, NY, my doctor's office is in Cortland, NY. Well anyways, any time I have a doctor's appointment, which isn't all that often, it's usually later in the afternoon and I'm usually hungry for dinner when I done with the appointment and I don't want to drive back to Syracuse hungary. When I had young kids and they had doctor appointments we used to stop at the A&W down the road. But this time I had to mail letter off and the nearest post office was in the business district. The business district in Cortland is really nice with older buildings with all kinds of cool shops, restaurants and bars. So I saw this place and said "Great Food". so I stopped in. The food was good. The waitresses and owner were friendly. In fact I even joked around with him a owner. The menu was quite diverse for a place that seemed like a bar and grill. A little pricey but not too bad. I would like to eat here again. So, if you're hanging around touring New York going through some of the old towns like Cortland or maybe you're visiting your kids at SUNY Cortland, this is a good casual option for quick bite at not too...
Read moreNothing to complain about when it comes to the food. On 10May2025 My complaints are about advertisement and service. We drove two hours to go to the waterfall in Ithaca so that my buddy could propose to his girlfriend! Was a exciting time and we wanted to celebrate with some good food. We were headed to a diner when I started looking up different places to eat and I saw Hairy Tony's. With alligator tacos on there online menu, we had to give it a try. We were seated by Erica and right off the bat we all 4 felt like we had done something to annoy the waitress. After she brought us water I asked if they had alligator tacos and she replied very blankly "No". That being the only reason we chose this place i felt it would have been nice for alittle bit of information on why they didn't have them, yet we continued on to order something different. Besides Erica seeming impatient with us trying to order something different, she didn't speak to us. A different waitress brought our food out, she was smiling and happy and just way more pleasant to be around. The food was not bad, but with the attitude kinda ruining our special occasion, we won't be...
