Southside Sub Shop — Restaurant in City of Elmira

As a submarine sandwich connoisseur. I try as many different locations as I can in search of a great submarine sandwich. While not the greatest, South Side Sub shop is acceptable. The best sub on their menu is the jumbo sub. It has cooked ham, chopped ham and salami on it. I get it with mayo, lettuce,tomato, onions , banana peppers and Italian dressing.One major thing I don't like is they use chopped onions. A submarine sandwich to me should have thinly sliced onions. Not chopped onions. The rolls are always fresh . I've had four of the jumbo subs in the last four months. The first one was very good. The second and third ones were ok. The fourth one was disappointing. The first one was made by a very nice lady. The second and third ones were made by a different lady. The fourth one was made by a young man. The construction of subs by different employees should be consistent. All employees should make them the same way. Instead of different amounts of meat and quality of construction. the second i walked in everything seemed fine like i rememebred it being as a kid but then we started to order and the person taking our order was really rude and basically just threw my fiances sub together and wrapped it up without even closing the sub so everything fell out into the wrapping and she just kept wrapping it up then i ordered my food and while still placing my order she walked away and kept walking away every time she would ask me something and everything was over priced for the type of service we got got home and everything just fell out as we opened the food because she clearly didnt know how to close them or just didnt care never again will i visit this place just goes to show just because something was once the best place in town doesnt mean it is still going to be when you go back...
