This restaurant supplies the best Chinese food by far in the whole Elmira area. There's no health code violations and the son that drives the white car is, as I've seen, and I see him driving around town often, a good driver. I feel like racism is lending a hand to that complaint. The guy drives like anybody else.
Back on topic however, the food is great and always up to quality. The rare one or two times my order was very slightly messed up, they fixed it no problem and at no extra charge. Their before 3 on weekdays lunch specials are super affordable and will leave you with leftovers for $4.89 after tax. Try their General Tso's Chicken, I have had it from every place around a 20 mile radius excluding Lin Buffet (as it's a buffet, not fast food) and nothing compares.
Happy Family is exactly that, a happy family. If you visit their restaurant you will see that it's more than just a cheap chinese joint. I often see an English tutor in the restaurant helping their children adapt to our culture and learn our language and the rest of the family members are very polite...
Read moreHappy Family used to be a very affordable, great tasting Chinese food option. I've been away for quite some time. I recently returned and couldn't wait to have Chinese food. I tried to order online. That wasn't an option. I tried to call the provided phone number to order. The number was incorrect. I finally went to order in person. The girl taking my order was efficient. She spoke as little to us as possible. The restaurant was very cluttered and didn't appear very clean. I was VERY DISAPPOINTED in the food. The sweet and sour chicken was undercooked and soggy. There was no pineapple, cherry, onion or any other fruits and vegetables that used to be served with the dish. The dipping sauce cup was less than half full. Lo Mein was so bland that we didn't even eat it. We sadly won't be ordering from them, again. Another Elmira favorite gone downhill. Thank Goodness for the remaining Elmira Longtime Local Favorites! We welcome some NEW Favorites to the...
Read moreDecent food but don't get the Chow Mein.
Chow Mein means stir-fried noodles in English, but they will give you a box of boiled lettuce and onion and no noodles, it's not even stir fried. (See attached picture.) They will give you wonton strips as a side to it and try to pretend thats what it means by noodles but it doesn't.
The worst part is that they will try to convince you that it's normal and what it's suppose to be, but if you google Chow Mein you will see the actual dish. Mein literally means noodles but as you can see in the picture there are no noodles and the lettuce isn't even stir fried. Yet they continued to try and tell me that It's suppose to be a thing full of boiled lettuce. Don't try to tell me I'm wrong and scam me at the same time.
To me it seems like a way to save money by just giving the customer a box of lettuce and hoping they don't call back or bring it back.
They did let me swap it out, but still tried to tell me...
