Chemung Valley History Museum — Attraction in City of Elmira

Take the seasonal trolley tour!!!!! I have lived in Elmira for most of my 59 years. Moved away a few times, but kept coming back. I have now taken the Mark Twain Trolley Tour several times, and have always enjoyed it. The trolley tour is seasonal, and departs from the museum. The cost is very affordable, and you can check out the museum before or after your tour departs. My out of town friends and relatives all really enjoyed the tour...and even after my many, many years in Elmira, I learned a lot about Elmira's history through this tour that I didn't know. Man, if you are a history buff, this is a place you want to visit. Very interesting. Part is set up in the old bank. Other side had a huge exhibit of one of the prominent family's home. The buildings are connected and I could have spent more time there. They have a little gift shop as well. The people working there are passionate about their area of New York State, and it shows. Very well put together, exhibits change - which is always nice to see. Loved it!...

Was our first experience there. We went for a half hour presentation on the Irish and how they helped shape our area. Great presentation. The building is very well layed out and lots of local history to be seen. We look forward to...
