Service was excellent. The waitress was very attentive and sweet, and prompt in bringing orders and checking up on us.
We ordered french onion soup, poutine appetizer, and my wife and I had burgers. First, the soup- came out FAST!! Really great onion flavor, very cheesy. Loved it.
The gravy on the poutine was bland. Had to add salt & pepper just to impart SOME flavor.
The wife had a burger & sweet potato fries smothered in gravy, which was, again, bland. The sweet potato fries were great. My burger was a Guinness Gold burger. It was cooked rare as ordered which was great, but the patty was also bland as hell- clearly no seasoning found its way onto this before it hit the grill. It came with bacon, which tasted old, and the Guinness Gold BBQ sauce was also nearly non-existent, and what there was lacked any kind of flavor. I'd steer clear of burgers at this place, because zero care went into this thing. Some salt & pepper when it hit the grill would've made a WORLD of difference.
Also, DO NOT order the strawberries & creme drink. It boasts that it is strawberries blended with ice cream & amaretto- what I got had no trace of a fresh strawberry anywhere and tasted like strawberry sand blended in cold milk with that exact consistency. Clearly it was just some kind of powdered mix which did not blend whatsoever. The waitress took it back and off the bill without question, and brought me a different drink quickly.
I suppose, were it midnight and I was drunk looking to pack anything in, it would've been better. Sadly, I was not. Eat...
Read moreA group of 8 of us ate there last night. Prior to ordering we asked if the checks could be split amongst us and the server said yes and then took our order. Cooked appetizers came out and the one who ordered a side salad had to wait another 5 minutes. Half of the tables food was served but then it was about another 5 to 10 minutes before the other half was served. I ordered the Cajun chicken pasta but they forgot the cajun....When we were finished she brought the checks and handed them out and informed us that gratuity was already added. They charged every check a 20% gratuity!!! No where on there menu or in their restaurant is it posted that with a group of people gratuity will automatically be added to the bill. Nor did the server inform us prior to ordering. However the only thing the menu did state was that they don't separate checks when the party is larger than 6 people. When I questioned them they only stated that it is their standard practice. My gripe is that people need to be informed of these things or it needs to be posted so people are aware. Also the new standard gratuity is 18% not 20%, which is higher than the 15% it used to be. I am a restaurant manager and have many years of serving experience so I am all for giving servers the tips they deserve, however I will not tip 20% for poor service, and I know many many many people that have the same opinion. This will effect us from returning to...
Read moreWould have gotten 4.5 or 5 stars except that when ordering dinner at the bar I expected silverware and at least one napkin. It took a while for my French Dip to arrive, approx. 25 minutes. It wasn't until my food sat for a few minutes getting cold that the male bartender noted he had not given me utensils or condiments. The sandwich was fine and the accompanying French fries though now on the cool side were crisp as requested. What I found disappointing was the au jus for the sandwich which had so much beef base it was as thick as maple syrup and at least a weeks worth of sodium. Inedible. I requested a rocks glass with water figuring on adding a small amount of the au jus to the rocks glass to thin it out extensively. What I received was a tumbler of ice water. Though personable and friendly the bartender must have had other things on his mind. I had been in previously when a young female bartender named Jamie (?) Was tending bar. I did receive great service on those days but did not order any food. I will definately go back but will be careful what I order from here on out. Looked for a manager but never did see one in the 70 minutes...
