Microclimate Wine Bar is a little haven of creativity and deliciousness, run by charming and skilled professionals and in the heart of the Finger Lakes. It reminds me a of a little Japanese izakaya in Portland, Maine but with very seasonal Finger Lakes ingredients and some southeast Asian influence. I love coming here for a few little plates of food and a drink, which can be anything from an excellent local wine, beer or cider to a homemade strawberry shrub and soda made with the brine from preserving magnolia buds! The wine list is small but mighty and the rotating cocktail specials always sound great and are often seasonal. One of the best plates is called Pickles + Ferments, which is an ever changing bowl of homemade fermented and pickled vegetables and fruits, all from local farms, with a soy marinated soft boiled egg. It is a complete meal with a bowl of perfect, steaming hot jasmine rice and happens to be great for lunch the next day. The quality and execution of the food and wine selection here is better than many similar establishments in cities like Rochester or even New York. It is worth a scenic drive from Rochester and a privilege and joy to live near an establishment of this caliber. Thank you for being here,...

We happened upon it when departing diners told us it was the BEST FOOD. And it was. We ordered 5-6 dishes for the table and each one was absolutely delicious. There was a cucumber salad that was divine. Cucumber salad! Who gets excited about that? But it was amazing. Same with the peaches and feta dish. The spicy ramen noodle salad. The steak dish. The dragon beans. Each one was a delicacy. Best food I’ve had in a very long time. And very reasonably priced plus nice low-key ambiance. There are even a few more tables in the back including a couple bar seats to watch the chef, which I would do if I get the chance...
Read moreMicroclimate is a must-go in Geneva! We were able to walk in 2 people with no reservations, and we sat at the bar. The atmosphere was hip and chill. They had a really cool selection of unique food and drinks - it was hard to choose! I got a glass of local Cab Sauv, and my partner and I split the Spalla, Zucchini Salad, and the Deep Fried Quail. The spalla was like a less fatty prosciutto - not quite as flavorful, but nice texture. The zucchini salad was a really fun blend of flavors - a nice crunchiness from the almonds, a zestyness from the gochujang romanesco sauce, and a savoriness from the Bulgarian feta. The decided favorite though was the deep fried quail, with its perfect outer crust and...
