Geneva Gelato — Restaurant in City of Geneva

I had high hopes for Geneva Gelato, but I was disappointed.

I found Geneva Gelato via the Happy Cow app and was excited to see that they had vegan options.

I ordered the Peanut Butter Cookie and Chocolate flavors (both vegan). Both of these flavors were the final bits that were left in the tray/bucket. The Chocolate had a lot of ice crystals/freezer burn. The Peanut Butter Cookie had good flavor, but had that sticky, syrupy texture that can happen when ice creams have been sitting a bit or when they are down to the last bit in the bucket.

They upcharge for vegan flavors (and their prices are already expensive). I paid close to $9.00 for the cup that is pictured. I could have gone to Wegmans to get two pints of vegan Ben & Jerry's for that price, and I would have been happier with the quality.

They have a $5.00 minimum for credit cards, which I feel is reasonable. In addition to that, they add a $0.59 surcharge to your already expensive bill if you use a credit card. I do not feel that this is reasonable. They do have a sign up in the business saying that they charge this fee because they don't want to raise their prices and they don't want to punish cash customers, but given the fact that they are already an expensive establishment, I do think that they should factor credit card fees into their business expenses. I am a small business owner myself and understand that credit card fees are more expensive than we (merchants) would like them to be, but in 2021, they are a cost of operating a business.

I wouldn't recommend Geneva Gelato, and I will not be...

I'm from NYC. Moved to outskirts of Buffalo. I used to get Gelato from my local pizza guy Sal. May he Rest in Peace. I used to go in the back and watch Sal make Gelato. I got addicted to the chocolate.

I had to come to Geneva today to my job. I saw the Geneva Gelato sign in the window and was like NO!!!!

Made that U Turn immediately and park out front. Was a comfortable atmosphere inside. I can tell it was a legit place. Not some dirty, second hand shop. I ordered the chocolate of course. He let me know there were napkins available on my way out. I already spilled some on my pants. But that didn't matter.

The taste made me run back into my head to my Sicilian friend Sal who had that pizza shop in Brooklyn. I was thinking I was 10 again.

Everytime I come to my office, I'm getting chocolate Gelato. And when you're in Geneva, come over to Geneva Gelato. And don't embarrass yourself asking for Soft...

I used Geneva Gelato for my wedding dessert and I would 100% recommend any local brides to do the same! Jeff is so sweet and easy to work with. Even through the planning during a pandemic, and a date change, he was very helpful and kind. We ended up doing 4 gelato flavors and rainbow Italian cookies, and it was the PERFECT summer treat and a fun, unique wedding dessert which guests loved!
