The day of the solar eclipse, I had the best Indian food I’ve ever had in my life. A magnificent blend of colors and flavors, I finally understood what my parents meant when they said that spices are supposed to be warm. We got paneer shahi korma mild with butter naan, mango lassi, and chai, and the price was insanely affordable for an Indian restaurant (especially coming from New Jersey). Initially put off by the smaller tables and rustic decor, my family and I were very pleasantly surprised by the food.
First of all, the portion sizes were perfection. Not too much but not too little. The amount of chai and lassi we got was perfect to share between three people even though we only got one serving of each. The food itself was divine. The lassi was just the perfect amount of sweetness and had the most delicious mango flavor. The chai was just like my mom’s back home, warm and seemingly infinite. The paneer korma was the real star of the show. With each bite, I got a burst of tomato and cashew, a familiar flavor that this restaurant somehow turned into a fresh new experience. The naan was not too buttery and had a fluffy texture. Once we had finished the naan, we finished the curry off with a bit of fluffy rice that seemed to melt in your mouth. By the end of the dinner, our plates had been scraped clean.
This is my new favorite restaurant. Excellent service and food. I hope that one day I’ll be able to...
Read moreI had the unfortunate experience of dining at Happy india. The ambiance was as inviting as a dentist's waiting room, with dim lighting that made me question whether they were trying to hide something.
The service was abysmal; only one waiterfor a seating capacity of 50 people.
Now, let's talk about the food - or lack thereof. The butter chicken tasted like it came from a can, drowned in a sickeningly sweet sauce that lacked any depth of flavor. To top it all off, the prices were exorbitant for the quality of food and service received. I left Happy India feeling not only disappointed but also slightly queasy from the whole experience. Save yourself the trouble and go elsewhere if you're craving Indian cuisine - anywhere else would surely be better...
Read moreEven though the owners were very humble and nice, but food was extremely unappetizing and distasteful. Chicken was not done properly and malai kofta was probably frozen and reheated before being served. Service was very slow, only one person was taking orders, cleaning tables, serving food and answering phone calls. We waited more than an hour for our food. In terms of hygiene, person cooking in kitchen was sweating like anything, had no gloves or cap on and was wiping his face with the same hands he was handing dishes over to server. Also All the people who were waiting to be seated were hovering over the people dining which was extremely uncomfortable as everyone was just staring at the people eating food. I would not recommend this place for any...
