This place is fantastic! Truly 5 stars all the way. Think "Rubio's" but more upscale, with more/better choices. This wasn't on google maps, either on my phone, nor my laptop. Nestled between a "Five Guys" and a "Jimmy Johns". After looking online at a local hotel, I was driving by looking for a place to eat and just happened to see the name out front . Now.. those other food places are fine, but I just didn't want a sandwich or burger right then. I'd just been to a Rubio's (first time) a couple days earlier and didn't really want another couple of small breaded/fried fish tacos. But thought I drop in and see what they had. Sooo.. glad i did. Friendly, clean, bright, I noticed right away it smelled like seafood, but not "fishy". I saw that they also had "fish tacos" but.. they also had "Plates". On the recommendation of a regular i got the swordfish - cajun style with their new "Dynamite Fries" Which were btw, absolutely delicious. AND they gave me a ton of them. The only odd thing, was they placed the fish ON the fries. I guess if I'd gotten rice or beans it would have been the same. It just seemed different since the fries have their own sauce and the bottom of the fish picked it up. It wasn't bad, not at all. But I think next time I'll ask for them "on the side". LOVE their choices of sauces. It's a "seat yourself, pick up your order, WE will clear your table" kind of place. It was about 3/4 full around 7pm on a weeknight and it took about 10 minutes for my order. Well worth the wait. Gotta tell you, Large fish steak, cooked perfectly (and NOT fishy), sides, small salad and a beer for $21??? Amazing. Oh.. and did I mention, I'm not really a "seafood" kind of person. Really glad to find that they ARE in more than one location. Don't know why they didn't show up on google maps or streets. But, I'll definitely be visiting more of their locations when I...
Read moreFood Quality: The seafood at California Fish Grill was fresh and flavorful. From the perfectly grilled fish tacos to the mouthwatering shrimp skewers, each dish was cooked to perfection. The menu offered a variety of options, allowing me to try different types of fish and sauces. The portions were generous, and the sides complemented the main dishes nicely.
Service: The staff at California Fish Grill were friendly and attentive throughout my visit. They were knowledgeable about the menu and provided helpful recommendations. The service was prompt, and my order arrived quickly. They also ensured that my dining experience was enjoyable by regularly checking in to see if I needed anything.
Clean and Welcoming Atmosphere: The restaurant had a clean and inviting atmosphere. The seating area was well-maintained, and the overall ambiance was pleasant. I appreciated the comfortable seating arrangements and the well-lit space, which added to the positive dining experience.
Affordability: Considering the quality of the food and the portion sizes, I found the prices at California Fish Grill to be reasonable. It's not a budget eatery, but for the quality of seafood offered, the prices were justifiable. I felt like I received good value for my money.
While my experience was mostly positive, there is still room for improvement. The restaurant can enhance the variety of side dishes and expand the drink options on the menu. Additionally, a few more vegetarian or non-seafood alternatives could make it more inclusive for a wider range of customers.
In conclusion, California Fish Grill provided me with a great dining experience. The fresh seafood, attentive service, clean atmosphere, and reasonable prices make it a restaurant I would recommend. With a few tweaks, it has the potential to become a five-star...
Read more4.75 STAR. Overall. Fresh, reasonably priced, fantastically priced for kids meal ($5 seafood?!). If you add upgrades, a meal can get pricey, otherwise averages under $15. Depending on what you order and what kind of fish you like, it can be a 5 Star great experience to a 3 Star mediocre experience. (I’ve been here countless times, some days it feels like a 3 while others a 5)
4.5 STAR. FOOD. Many seafood are prepped HALF RAW by default (including the deep fried scallops), can make request for it to be well done. The rice in the grain bowl is a little on the dry and hard side, with a small sprinkled portion of roasted corn and finely chopped dry kale. Ordered twice. Won’t order it again. A little too dry for my liking. String beans are one of our favorites, mixed with green and yellow ones (the 3 year old likes the yellow ones) We like the softer fish. So our regular items are kids Swai $4.99, rockfish $11.99, scallops basket $5.99, and string beans. Sometimes the salmon. Tried different items from time to time but default back to these Soda and drinks selection is better than average (Stubborn) offering natural selections. $2.99 mango juice is pretty decent (purchase separately). Everything is heavily loaded with sugar of course. So I go for the complimentary water.
Other. A fish description chart is available on a stand in line and on a printed paper somewhere. It’d be useful if it’s blown up and hung on the wall to facilitate with...
