I’ve been to Thailand/Singapore/Malaysia for months at a time and eaten a lot of chicken rice. I come here often.
This place has the best Hainan Chicken Rice I’ve ever found in the world. (Perfect sauces, de-boned, oily fragrant rice, tender dark meat). It may not be consistently the best due to me buying it when it’s not freshly made, but I can’t fault them. This isn’t Asia where it’s made around the clock. When it’s good, it’s the best I’ve ever had. When it’s “bad”, it’s still better than 90% of places.
The “Hainan chicken rice dark meat” is very good. The rice is flavorful with great texture. The chicken was super super tender but varies by the time of day.
Sauces: The ginger scallion oil was great. It’s the same sauce you find in Cantonese roast meat restaurants and I think the Cantonese version goes better with chicken rice than the Singaporean ginger sauce version (which isn’t always served in Singapore). Ginger sauce for me is a MUST! I also loved the spicy sauce. It’s super savory and not crazy spicy and feels like it has chicken broth in it. I just pour that all over my rice. I like this sauce better than the super spicy Singapore or sour Thai variation. I also love the “glass” veggies they serve the meal with. Such a nice touch and so flavorful. I like it better than cucumbers or bean sprouts served in other places.
Other items: The spicy beef brisket noodle soup was also amazing. Good amount of chili oil and can always ask for more. The broth is plenty flavorful yet clean (Cantonese flavors). I loved it with the mini flat rice noodles. The meat was nice and fatty and tender.
The chrysanthemum tea was amazing. Sweet and full of flavor and nice and cold. I rarely have it that flavorful.
PS. This is wayyyyy better than Cluck2Go. Savoy Kitchen....
Read moreI ordered their beancurd beef tripe and tomato crab paste rice noodles today. I have gotten dinner several times before and had tried their shrimp roll, hainan chicken rice. All of the dishes I tried are good. It’s pretty quiet usually when I visit this place. The most people I’ve seen are probably 3-4 tables of customers. Service is good every time and servers are very attentive and friendly.
Its more like a 4 for this place because its a place I would often come because of their food and service. I decided to give this place a 5 star instead because I want to support small businesses like these and because this place is more hidden / low key so unless you are in the area for a quick lunch, theres a less chance people would...

Small restaurant with few service staff.
