I’m not sure if people are leaving 5 star reviews because they’re friends with the owner or what, but this place is not a 5 star yet. Hence the 3 star rating. Let’s get into the biggest issue here: the ordering system. We walked in, 2 of us, and were greeted by who we assume is the owner, perhaps Jenny as mentioned in previous reviews? She warmly welcomed us and explained we could have a seat and order from our phones or on the tablet at the front. Someone was already ordering on the tablet so we opted for the phone. Jenny brought us waters and checked in on us constantly; which we’d normally find bothersome but she was great and we understand it’s like this when you’re a brand new restaurant. After reviewing our order, we had to place the order for pick up in store and pay at the counter- and were charged a $1 convenience fee for ordering online. After our experience we checked the in store tablet and noticed they do not charge a fee on it. If you’re going to replace in person ordering with an online system, you cannot charge dine in customers convenience fees.
This place is also not built for dine in right now. The interior is beautiful, and the seating is very nice- but the dining experience is not. We got 3 sushi rolls, a bowl of soup, and a seaweed salad. All were served in disposable plate ware. Even the soy sauce dishes were disposable plastic! The soup was at the brim of the small plastic bowl and the only silverware provided is plastic spoons and forks and wooden chopsticks. Any noodle soup from pho to ramen requires larger renge spoons, and in any event I needed a much larger bowl to eat it. I was stressed about spilling it.
The food itself was delicious- the highlight being the beef noodle soup. The seaweed salad was great but was served over iceberg lettuce? Confusing and unnecessary. Sushi was good, fresh, and we liked the flavor of the soy sauce. But more lettuce in the shrimp sushi roll. We each got a boba tea with tapioca, but they both had popping boba in them as well which was not marked on the menu and we didn’t know what flavor they were either.
Overall we think that a few changes will bring this place to something great. Changing the ordering system, getting real plateware for dine in or just eliminate dine in as option if you really can’t handle the volume. We also waited quite awhile and saw parts of our order sitting on the counter when it could’ve been brought to us. Hopefully in time they can hire more staff. This is definitely a family run operation and the owner was so kind, we absolutely want to come back and support them again. But in a time where it’s so crucial where you spend your money, we can’t justify returning unless we’re doing strictly take out and some of the menu items...
Read moreThis place popped up on my radar because it's local and new and has good reviews. I had high hopes thanks to the accolades, and it pains me to leave a harsh review, because this place definitely had some serious potential.
The good: Interior decor is nice. The staff was super friendly and accommodating, they took the time to explain the order kiosk to me and my folks. There's plenty of utensils at each booth and the place is clean.
The bad: This is primarily a take-out restaurant for DoorDash and Uber Eats to pick up at. Me and my family did not know this when we came in - there were plenty of places to sit. You order through a touchscreen kiosk or online - they have paper menus (but they're outdated according to the waitress). I was fine with ordering, but older folks may have some trouble. Unfortunately the place does not have central air (only two small window air conditioners) and the inside was very hot and stuffy. We ordered a Poke bowl and Sushi platter for two with two bubble teas and it came to $92. Quite expensive, but it's a new place and it has a 4.9 star rating so it's probably great, right?
The poke bowl was served in a cardboard takeout box and had an anemic amount of meat. We got the Crab Steak option - it was just a small amount of shredded imitation crab and the veggies that it came with were bland and completely unseasoned. There was no flavor. The sushi platter came out next, and it was awful. Some of it was warm, some of it was cold and firm. Had a rough texture. Almost definitely hastily defrosted, possibly by microwave. Very unpleasant. I ended up eating just a few pieces before leaving the rest. It came with miso soup for two, but it was served in a single large plastic container (because this is a takeout place and they don't have actual dinnerware), so we couldn't share it.
I spent a lot of money on some really bad food and I can't see myself coming back. The boba was good, though, so you can at least pick some up from here. I'd recommend skipping the...
Read moreWhat an awesome find. We are excited to have this restaurant in our community. We had an amazing experience and I’m really excited to come back. Service was excellent and super helpful employees to explain the menu. This will be our new Asian food staple. Please come and support them so they can stick around for a long time!! We would have taken pictures but the food didn’t last long enough - the kids devoured it. Kids loved the bobo tea too! I had a Thai tea and it was perfect. Kids had mango fruit tea and jasmine boba. We also had ramen, stir fry, rock shrimp and salmon sushi and a bunch of hand rolls all excellent. Can’t wait to...
