Pool Boys — Local services in City of Lackawanna

They give terrible advice and don't really help. They took over the location that was previously zappias. Zappias sold me exactly what I needed and gave decent advice. This is the SECOND year, I went to pool boys and was told shock and chlorine are the exact same and I don't need shock to open my pool for year. This is also the SECOND year I listened to them and have been trying to get my pool open for over a week. I have dumped 4 gallons of chlorine in my pool with 1 gallon of algaecide, with not results. Over the past week, since, I have dumped in 4 more gallons of chlorine and 2 of algaecide in and my pool looks like I did absolutely nothing to it. I called another pool place for advice, they said "you need shock. They are not the EXACT same thing and your pool will not get better if you don't put shock in" Last year, this happened and shock did help. Pool boys is closer to me, so I went there. The lady insisted I'm wrong and I couldn't have used that much chlorine if I'm getting the results I have. She also said they're out of shock. Shocker! Since everyone is probably using it to open their pools up. I told her, every time I listen to this advice of theirs chlorine doesn't do the job, but shock does. She continued to argue with me. Extremely disappointed this year. We called & sent a text message on May 19th for the first time. After several weeks of waiting and texting, Kevin showed June 13th. He was unable to fix the heater and said he would send someone else out. We were told several times someone would be here and no one showed. If the job is too much just say it. I respect that and would call another company. But we lost over a month. Finally gave in and called another company on June 30th. It’s sometimes tough to find companies that can get jobs done in a timely manner but the owner of Pool Boys (Brian) and his staff are exceptionally amazing from making sure they communicate with you as well as charge you reasonable prices for work done. I had them upgrade my pool with a new electric heater and sand filter and I could not be more happy with the work done.
