The BDBC Lockport location in the old Post Office is gorgeous. They spared no expense turning one section of the building into this restaurant, modernizing and yet maintaining the amazing historical character of this architectural landmark. I want this place to succeed with all my heart because success breeds success and the rest of the massive building needs to be filled and utilized so Lockport can continue to make progress in the business district to realize it's full potential as a great place to live and work. I give 5 stars for everything and I've never had any complaints about anything. That said, there is one area that needs to be addressed. I know it's a brewery-sports bar-restaurant, but the upstairs/top floor room is too open, sterile and industrial. The floors, walls and high ceilings echo all sounds and amplify the noise to an uncomfortable level. Add the too loud high energy music and TVs and you find yourself shouting to others just to be heard which compounds the problem when the place is busy. The owners need to implement some strategies and structural materials that will attenuate some of the noise so it's more conducive to eating and conversing with others. Add a full row of comfortable booths along the wall with the windows and anywhere else they will fit to make the place a little more cozy and family friendly to increase seating and business (not everyone wants to sit on display at 4-top tables in the middle of the room). Same goes for downstairs. This place is a genuine gem we desperately need for a convenient local meal instead of always driving to Transit Road, Buffalo or the burbs to eat. TBDBC is one more step to making Lockport all it can be and I will continue...
Read moreWe had such a great experience at the new Big Ditch Brewing Company in Lockport, NY and it’s safe to say this spot is going to be a favorite for a lot of locals—ourselves included.
Right from the start, we were welcomed by Julia behind the bar, and she was absolutely fantastic. Super friendly, knowledgeable, and genuinely passionate about the brews. She took the time to ask us what we liked and helped us find the perfect drink to enjoy while we waited for our table. That kind of personal touch really makes a difference.
Once we sat down, Scarlet took care of us at the table, and she was just as amazing. Kind, attentive, and easy to talk to—she made sure we had everything we needed and checked in with a smile. It felt like we were being taken care of by people who truly enjoy what they do.
The food? Fresh, flavorful, and exactly what you’d hope for from a place like this. You can tell they put effort into the menu and the presentation, and it definitely delivered.
All around, the vibe was welcoming, the service was top-notch, and the food and drinks were spot on. We’re thrilled to have Big Ditch in Lockport, and if this first visit is any indication, it won’t be our last. This place is...
Read moreOur visit was during the opening weekend and we expected some issues to arise. First The good: The green Chile Smash Burger was AWESOME! Finally able to get green chile here in WNY! It was a welcome addition to the pepperoni pizza as well. Treat your taste buds and get the burger or pizza w/GC. The Mediterranean Bowl was more pasta than veggies and we wouldn't order that again. However, the added grilled chicken drizzled with balsamic dressing was very tasty. We had chicken nachos as an appetizer and given the way the others in my party devoured them, I'd say they were top-notch! The biggest downfall of our visit was being seated in the lower level which was once the basement of the post office. Compared to the main floor, this level lacked any ambiance and we felt like we were seated in a basement. My advice to anyone who is going to be seated there is to wait until a table is available on the main floor. ESPECIALLY if your trip is to celebrate a special occasion like a birthday or anniversary. I believe you'll enjoy your surroundings and meal much more...
